CHICAGO CUBS (C. Zambrano) -115 over PHILADELPHIA (Padilla)
After a bumpy June (5.79 ERA) in which he was roughed up in
interleague play by both the Red Sox and Yankees, Zambrano has
found his groove once again and has been stellar since the All-Star
break (24.1 IP, 19 H, 4 ER, 8 BB, 20 K), winning two of three, with his
one loss coming in an extra-inning pitching duel with Chris Carpenter
in which he left with a 1-1 tie. Padilla has also strung together some
good starts, but he is the streaky type and we are not as confident in
his ability to stay consistent and his recent performance gives the
Cubs a better line to work with. The Phillies are just 13-14, -$625
versus righties in home night games. Lefties are hitting .321 against
Padilla this season so look for Burnitz, Walker and newly-acquired
Matt Lawton to get some good looks in this hitter's park.
