ATS: 95-69-4 (+25.8)
OU: 55-46-1 (+4.2)
ML dogs: 2-6 (+.1)

The Blazers beat the Nuggets at home earlier this season. When they have beat an opponent at home, in the road rematch when they are a dog they are 1-9 SU (-13.1 ppg) and 2-8 ATS in their last ten. Aldridge did not play in the last game, when the Blazers won by 8. But the Nuggets were also 0-22 from the three point line. They did manage to score 74 points in the paint, showing their dominance inside. They won?t have as many tonight, but I expect Aldridge to struggle against the Manimal.

The Nuggets have fought back from third quarter deficits in their last three games at home to win. During this five-game winning streak, they Nuggets have outscored their opponents 151-102 in the fourth quarter, an average of 30.2 points to 20.4. George Karl explained their recent performances: "Urgency and desperation and professional pride," Nuggets coach George Karl said. I hope they get off to a better start tonight, but if not, maybe they can fight back and cover anyway! Wilson Chandler?s return has added some great offense to their line up as well. In their last six games as a home favorite, when they are playing in the first game of back to back games, the Nuggets are 7-0 SU (+15.3 ppg) and 7-0 ATS.

This is a matchup problem tonight for Portland. They are the worst team in the league at defending the paint. They are not good at scoring in the paint, and the Nuggets are the best. The Nuggets have a decisive rebounding edge over the Blazers as well. When the Nuggets are playing at home as a favorite vs. a conference opponent, since last season they are 17-3 SU (+12.7 ppg) and 16-4 ATS when they win the paint and rebounding categories. Denver holds a statistical edge in almost every category over the Blazers, except for three pointers.

This season as a home favorite, the Nuggets are 9-1 SU (+11.2) and ATS vs. western conference opponents.

The Blazers have not fared well recently when playing a mile high. They are 0-7 (-14.1 ppg) and 0-7 ATS in the last seven meetings in Denver.

Nuggets x2

Good luck...

A couple more things I just read that are pretty funny. The Nuggets set a record in the last game vs the Blazers when they went 0-22 from long range. They also only scored 2 points outside the paint.

This was also a good read:

"The climb towards a win will be steep for Portland tonight. They have to duplicate their feat from December 20th, making the Nuggets earn their paint points and hoping they miss from farther out. Denver scored 74 in the paint in that game, though. Anybody want to guess what's going to happen if they get that many again? The Blazers also need contributions from their reserves, lest Denver's depth overwhelm. Portland needs to take advantage of offensive rebounding. They also need to remember that Denver allows opponents to move the ball. The Nuggets don't force turnovers and they allow plenty of assists.

All of that going right at once on the road against a good team is a longshot. Fortunately the Blazers get to retreat back home after this and face an easier lineup of opponents. Let's just hope they make it out of the Mile High City in one piece."

Hornets vs. Sixers

The Hornets have been a good bet this year as a road dog, going 11-5-1 ATS (granted the average line was 8.9). They have not had two straight ATS losses in road games this year. After an ATS loss, they are 3-7 SU (-2.4) and 8-1-1 ATS this season as a road dog. Since Eric Gordon returned they are 4-3, with some very impressive wins.

Spencer Hawes had some words of wisdom on his team that has only won three of their last sixteen and averaged only 91 ppg during this stretch:

?These are kind of the dog days of the season. It is January. It?s before the All-Star break...When you are going through stretches like this, it is good to get away from it a little bit and get your mind refreshed as well. It is all related. When you are playing better on offense and everyone is hitting shots, then everyone plays a little harder on defense, and vice versa when you are getting stops on the other end. I think if we can get back to having that mindset on the offensive end, it will manifest itself on defense in unselfishness.?

If Philly is trying to feed off their offensive prowess, they may have a hard time against one of the better defensive teams in the league. Anthony Davis and Eric Gordon did not play in the last matchup, and the Hornets may be looking for some serious revenge tonight after they were embarrassed by a 62 point outing at home earlier this season.

Popovich on the Hornets: ?They just never stop. They keep coming at you, so you've got to keep your focus. Overlooking the Hornets would be a really bad idea.?

These teams are going in two different directions right now. I think that Collins is a great coach, but I think that Monty Williams is a great coach too (despite his gaffe earlier this season in Portland). The Sixers caught the Rockets in one of the worst situations that ever arises in the NBA, and tonight they are facing a highly motivated revamped Hornets team.

Following a loss ATS on the road, the Hornets are 7-4 SU (+3.9) and 10-1 ATS in their next road game as a dog (average line: 7.9).

Bet this early this morning, but I would still take the 3 now. I think they should win this game.

Hornets +3.5

Houston line just moved to -3.5. Can't find anything else in why so I'm assuming money is going heavy on Houston. Your thoughts?

The Rockets have had two days to prepare for the Clippers. They may miss Chris Paul more in this type of game than against a Memphis team that plays more patient half court sets. The reason the Rockets did not fare well on their recent road trip is because opponents were able to slow them down. The Rockets have been solid this year as a home favorite. They are 10-3 SU and 8-5 ATS, and in their last five they have won by an average of 15.6 ppg. With the Clippers on a back to back, and if the Rockets can get the Clippers to play their style, I think they should win.
