Greetings, MJ'ers - it has been a while since posting, but I have some thoughts for tonight...lots of chalk, I'm afraid...
1. Seattle [-158] at Texas
Sele has struggled a bit, but seems to be rounding back into form. Oliver is 1-4 against Seattle with a 6.78 era in 17 appearances/10 starts vs. SEA
2. CUBS [-150] vs. PITT
Cubs have lost 2 tough games recently, but should get a win here tonight. Bere is 3-0 with 2.91 era lifetime vs. Cubs and 3-1 in 4 most recent starts. Anderson is 1-0 vs. Cubs, but is 2-9 in 12 starts with 6.75 era since July over 70+ innings.
3. PHILLIES [-168] vs. Reds
I am going against Raymond here. My reasoning is that Coggin for the Phils pitched well in his last start against ATL, 5 hits and 2 runs in 7 innings. He has not faced the Reds, which seems to favor the Phils. Hamilton for the Reds beat the Phillies in July when with TOR. [1 run and 4 hits in 5 innings] but he gave up 5 runs and 4 hits by CHI in last start, lasting only 3 innings. [2 homers] PHY has some momentum, and wants to stay tied for first with ATL.
4. YANKEES [-260] vs. T.B.
Clemens, Clemens, and more Clemens. Yanks have owned the D.Rays.
5. ARIZONA [-167] vs. Brewers [PASS]
At first I though this was a no-brainer for the D-Backs. But although the Brewers have the 3rd worst record in baseball, they have the series lead against the D'Backs, 5-4, and they play each other 6 more times in the last 12 games. I will play D'Backs for double units tomorrow if they lose tonight. Lopez has been very inconsistent and been hammered last 2 starts.
LEAN to OVER 9.0 in this spot...
6. ORIOLES/BOSTON OVER 9.5
Went to BAL Friday and saw a GREAT game vs. Yanks. BAL has played better last few, and Batista is on fire for the O's. See at least 6 or 7 runs by the winner tonight.
7. ATL/FLA PASS
Florida has won 5 of 6 from ALT, which seems to be trying to find ways to lose the division. Milwood is OK, but I am passing here. Possible UNDER due to Braves lack of hitting lately.
8. METS [-144] vs. Montreal
METS play 9 games against Expos and PITTS of last 12, so 4 back may be possible to overcome. -144 seems a bit steep, but Appier has been a very consistent pitcher lately, and has not lost since July 21, a 10-3 loss to Montreal. Revenge???
That is far more than normal, and all chalk if I read my own post correctly.
RECAP:
1. SEATTLE [WON]
2. CUBS [ugly]
3. Phillies [uglier]
4. Yankees [ugliest]
5. Boston/Baltimore OVER [WON]
6. METS [WON]
GOOD LUCK TO ALL...
T.T.
