Preview & outright plays:

Formerly the EMC2 Kaanapali Classic, the event remains in Hawaii but moves to the island of Oahu. The course is a new one on Tour, the Palmer course, previously known as The Links at Kuilima, was designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay in 1990 and opened in 1992. It is a links course that runs alongside the Ocean, but which is not visible until the 17th hole. The fairways are wide with tough fairway bunkers and the greens are large, though the real defense on any links course is the wind and it does get very windy on this course, particularly as the prevailing wind is against the players on the first six holes. With winds of 20-25mph forecast for all three days, this course be a high-scoring event.

The outright selections for this event are Allen Doyle, Dana Quigley and Walter Hall. Doyle is due a win. In the last two weeks, he has shot 66 and 63 in the final round to be edged into 2nd place. With a much weaker field on view this week, including either of the two players that denied Doyle, he has a good chance of winning this event with none of his competitors in the same form. With a very short swing and low ball-flight, his game should suit the wind and has played very well in this event at its former home at the Kaanapali Golf Club, finishing 3rd and 2nd in the last two years.

Quigley, on the other hand, should welcome the change of venue. He had a poor record at Kaanapali, but he had played well in the other Senior PGA Tour held in Hawaii, the MasterCard Championship. More importantly though, he has shown himself to be an extremely consistent performer this season with top-15 finishes in 16 of his last 19 events. In a very weak field, he can certainly add to his tally of high finishes if not secure another win this week.

Hall is another player who has already won this season and should fancy his chances to win again with the competition this week. He returned to form with 4th place last week at the Gold Rush Classic having had three indifferent events following his win in Canada and has an excellent record in this event at Kaanapali finishing no worse than 13th on each of his four appearances. Surprisingly long odds with 5 places for a player who won only five weeks ago.

Outright plays:

Allen Doyle to win 9/1 @ BetSmart
Dana Quigley to win 25/1 e.w. @ BetSmart or Bet365
Walter Hall to win 33/1 e.w. @ Surrey

54-hole plays:

Ed Dougherty to beat Bob Gilder -130 @ Five Dimes
Gilder was opposed last week because of his poor form over the past few months and he duly obliged, finishing 51st. Dougherty for his part finished 3rd last week, his 2nd top-3 finish in five events, and finished 3rd in the MasterCard championship earlier this season. He should win this easily

Dana Quigley to beat Mike McCullough -130 @ Five Dimes [3 units]
McCullough fared even worse than Quigley last week. He finished 58th and his form has been in a state of slide over the past couple of months. With very poor form in this event, he is easily opposed with a player who has been in great form for nearly the whole season

Final update: 0-2 and -5.20 units

Very disappointing blank on the event and with some rather heavy losses on the matchups! Dougherty lost to Gilder by eleven shots and Quigley lost to McCullough by nine.

Update on outright plays: 0-3 and -3.00 units

At least Doyle and Hall were close to securing some return from this event. Both finished two places too high. Doyle was 3rd when a win-only selection and Hall was 7th, just one shot our of a place finish. Quigley finished 39th and was an expensive player to back this week.
