Currently up to date on these:

Americans
Better call Saul
Homeland
Ray Donovan
Walking dead
Fear the walking dead
Narcos

TV gurus, do you have any other suggestions?

I'm not a guru, I'm like you and started when you did. Try Bates Motel and Fargo. I like Ray Donovan but only saw season 1. My season 2 is a corrupted file, where can I find it? You didn't see Breaking Bad? That would be your priority.

thanks. :0008

For me, this is my TV show ranking...........

1. Dexter
2. Homeland
3. The Wire
4. Breaking Bad
5. The Sopranos

Now, Dexter isn't for everyone. I get it. But it suits my subject matter liking...................

If you liked Lost then you'd probably dig Fringe... same production company. It's similar to XFiles. I'm rewatching the series with my son and it's definitely held up.

For new shows The Expanse is awesome... first season just finished. It's on SyFy... I think this will be their next Battlestar Galactica which is another great show.

True detective season 2, it's better than people talk.

Penny Dreadful and Game of Thrones if you somehow managed to miss them...

I'm in season 1 episode 7 and it's kind of tough to understand who's on what side and the names.
