I've set up TV and audio 100 times in the past and this should be simple, but I'm missing something.

Added a sound bar for my daughter to watch movies. Hooked the sound bar to the back of TV using the optical cable. Sounds works perfect (though I think I notice a millionth of a second delay, but that's another issue).

Switch to her watching a Blue Ray and no sound, WTF? I tried all the setting on the sound bar and no sound. I took the optical cable out of the back of the TV and ran the optical cable straight from the Blue Ray to the sound bar and still no sound. WTF?

What am I missing?

I am thinking you should plug the sound bar back in to the socket on the wall. Merry Christmas Pengy.

check what's the blu ray's sound format output:

"Unlike HDMI, TOSLINK does not have the bandwidth to carry the lossless versions of Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD
Master Audio, or more than two channels of PCM audio."

try switching br-output to 2-channel stereo + sub ( 2.1 ) or try RCA-cables if it helps

Thank you sir. Changed the output to a different version of 5.1 and it started working right away.
