Notre Dame safeties Eilar Hardy and Elijah Shumate were left off the team's travel roster for Saturday's game at Stanford due to a violation of team rules, coach Brian Kelly confirmed in a statement Friday.
Notre Dame's safety depth will be extremely thin, with starters Austin Collinsworth and Matthias Farley most likely backed up by freshman Max Redfield and sophomore John Turner. Hardy and Shumate comprised half of Notre Dame's two-deep at safety along with Collinsworth and Farley.
