FIRST: the terrible bombings in nyc and dc.totally uncalled for but i alway's liked revenge.they will pay

SWCOND: had to put my beagle (toby) to sleep on friday.due to some infection? back to that later!
Toby was a very special dog,she came to us about 8 years ago from a very special person whom i think everyone on this site has heard of DR BARNETT SLEPIAN- he was the doctoe that was killed in western ny about 2 years ago shot down in front of his own home. my wife TRACYANN worked with dr.slepian at his obgyn clinic, and about 8 years from this date she brought toby home. i never loved a dog as much as her,so as you can see last week was a very emotional week for me and my family

now about that infection toby had, the clinic did not know what it was due from, but said for surgery it would cost me $5000.00 but the catch was it was not guaranteed$$ how the hell can you charge someone $5000.00 and not even know what your looking for? i had no choice but to put her to sleep, and boy do i miss her!

was wondering if anyone else had a problem w/a vet like this before??

putting the family dog is very hard. I had to do it a couple of years ago. The vet said that the dog could not be saved a black lab. 15 years old.
thanks

jmizeus,

I'm really sorry to hear about your dog.

I know some people say it is hard to compare human life to animal life but you do get very attached to them and they are like one of the family.

I had to take one of our puppies to a vet in the middle of the night last week and he said if we had of left it until the morning she would have died. Luckily he was able to save her and she is back with us causing huge havoc around the house. It cost $550 but at the time that wasn't an issue.

I can understand how tough it must have been to be told $5000 and no gaurantees.

DUNCAN, i believe they did catch up w/him in another country. he was on the most wanted list in the united states. but last i heard the country which i can't think he was caught in wont release him as of yet. he will get the chair if he comes here.

not sure if you actually know the story of this guy, but him and his wife lynn got home from a nite out and as soon as they arrived at there amherst home this thug shot him through his window of his home, the terrible thing about it was it was right in front of his family (children). very sad story

Jimezeus- sorry to hear about that.
It's been a tough week for all of us. Hang in there man.

I could give you more info if I knew what kind of infection it was (labwork, symptoms). Sounds like he was planning some sort of exploratory surgery. Too many possibilities to go into without more info.
Let me know if I can be of any help.

jmizeus:

Thanks for the update. I remember the story very well. I hope the bastard fries one day.

Really sorry about the dog. Anything that can be very upsetting to someone has validity. The family can love a pet as one of the family, especially children when they don't understand about the meaning of death.

Something we all learned too much about last week.

Best wishes.
