BALTIMORE -- Kevin Millar will have to wait at least another day to resume his pursuit of the Baltimore Orioles' club record for consecutive games reaching base.
Monday night's game between the Orioles and Texas Rangers was postponed by rain. The teams are scheduled to play a night game Tuesday, and Monday's game will be made up Wednesday at 5:05 p.m. ET as the opener of a doubleheader.
Millar started the day with a run of 46 consecutive games in which he reached via a hit, walk or hit by pitch. It's the team's longest such streak since Cal Ripken had a 46-game run in 1998, and only three games short of tying Ken Singleton's club record of 49 in 1977.
Millar hasn't missed reaching base since June 20.
"Streaks are fun. I had a 70-something streak in the minor leagues before (Kevin) Youkilis ended up tying it," Millar said. "I like streaks. Hopefully it will go on, and it will be spotlighted on the bricks on the warehouse out there."
Millar was jokingly referring to the number 2131, which was placed on the warehouse beyond the right-field wall at Camden Yards when Ripken broke Lou Gehrig's record of playing in 2,130 consecutive games.
Millar and the Orioles were glad Monday's game was called off after a delay of less than a half-hour
