Just saw the replay on HBO. What a perfect ass kicking Tyson got. Then stands there and said. I like to fight you one more time I think I can beat you now. Maybe he was still dazed. He has no chance.

I AGREE. I WAS TOTALLY WRONG ON THIS FIGHT. I THOUGHT WE WOULD SEE A TYSON THAT THREW PUNCHES. BUT AFTER SEEING THIS FIGHT . NOW ADMIT LEWIS HAS PERFECT STYLE TO FIGHT THESE SHORTER FIGHTERS. HE WAS AWESOME. TYSON IS SONNY LISTON ALL OVER. I THINK THE INTERVIEW WITH THE BABY WAS A PLOY TOO. OH WELL. ON TO THE MEXICANS.

I thought it very sad to see Tyson, a fighter of his caliber, get beat to a pulp like that. I am not intimating that I think he is of high moral fiber, only that he is the last of the "Great Heavyweights" that we will see for some time. I am not saying that Lewis isn't a good heavyweight or fighter, or Holyfield for that matter. What I am saying is when Tyson was young and under the tutilage of Cus D'Mato and then Kevin Rooney, he was by far the most dynamic and devastating fighter in the game. He continued to hold that post until incarceration, which is a whole other story, and the Douglass fight which I still believe was a calculated loss. He has become a shell of his former self and has let the rigors of media demand and society consume him. A sad story indeed if you ask me.

i agree with fatdaddy. it was sad. i have never been a big tyson fan. but he was exciting. i believe he honestly thought he would catch lewis. i did. first time i had ever pulled for tyson. no money on the fight. just wanted the title back in american hands. don,t know what he was doing after the fight. it wasn't like he could act tough. he had just got his field plowed.i'm curious to see the remarks and events from tyson in the future months.

Best thing @ that fight is that Tysons corner didn't throw in the towel.
Mike fought like a has-been, took a ass whipp'n like a man & stayed clean throughout the fight.

"And thats all I got say about that "

I think the prefight talk with the ref cotton in the dressing room had a huge impact with the way tyson came out...cotton told tyson basically that bygones would be bygones and this was a brand new fight...and did you see how tyson reacted when he heard that? I thought he was going to kiss the man...he was like a child that finally gets his first piece of candy...finally he could make amends and start over...the public would see that he wasn't a caged animal...so he thought...but I think tyson hearing that totally caught him off guard and changed the way he came in the ring...and did anyone catch how cotton went into lewis' locker room? totally biased in tone and language...and it carried over in the ring...it was so blatant and obvious that cotton WANTED mike to win...he must have had a bill or two on tyson... :D tyson went into the ring timid and weak because of conditioning...poor training and corner people as always with tyson (post rooney)...lennox dominated yes...but he was still worried of tyson until he realized this guy ain't gonna throw any punches! it was so unusual to see tyson NOT come out like a pit bull...I think if a rematch happens, tyson wins by KO...

my take on referee cotton. i believe he was so focused on making sure lewis didn't do anything to make tyson believe he was being fouled. i believe that was why he stayed on lewis case. i don't believe he was for tyson. he felt pressure i believe in making sure this fight didn't get out of hand. that's my opinion.

I think the side show that follows Tyson around has finally caught up to him.His skills have deteriorated beyond repair.Although he will still get fights, because of the sorry state of the heavyweight division, his better days are behind him.

Last of the Great Heaveyweights?? Are you frigging kidding me?? Who the hell did the guy ever beat. Everyone of the guys he bashed in his Cus D'amato and Rooney days was way over the hill or a joke. Tyson ducked Riddick Bowe because he didn't have an answer for a heavyweight that big who wasn't a stiff. What a joke.

and others would ALL kick the sh!t out of David Tua. or Ruiz, or any other weak ass heavyweight that wants to call themselves fighters. Just because Tyson is old and slower and DESTROYED all competition early in his career does not take away from the fact that he eliminated everybody in his path except a hugging "Bonecrusher" Smith. Tyson kicked the crap out of all of em, and he did it quickly. Morals and virtue have nothing to do with it, he just kicked the hell out of evrybody and the competition was much stiffer.

i have been watching boxing since 1976. the great heavyweights i've seen in my opinion during that time are in the following order.

1. larry holmes- (a holmes in his prime is in the top 5 of all time. he would have knocked a tyson in his prime out.)

2. evander holyfield-(in the top 10 of all time.)

3. lennox lewis-(when he's motivated, he's hard to beat. top 10 of all time.)

i don't list ali because he was at the end when i started watching boxing.

in my opinion. these are the only great heavyweights in the last 26 years fighting. tyson was one of the great (exciting) heavyweights in history. but just for excitment purposes. he is not in the top 10.

Fatdaddy, Tyson never fought Riddick Bowe, much less beat him.
Razor Ruddick took him the distance once and almost the second time. The rest of the list you mentioned minus holme is a joke.
