First of all, I'm not quite sure if this is actually going to be a boxing match or a carnival, but as a boxing fan, I'm hoping it's the former. From a wagering perspective, I think you'd more skilled filling out a keno card then betting on a Tyson fight. Just way, way too much turbulance to make an educated wager. Like it or not, Tyson is still the biggest draw in boxing and with Holyfield's victory over Rahman last weekend, the prospects of Tyson-Holyfield III are probably pretty enticing for the powers that be (Don King). For those that believe that boxing is a just a big conspiracy (for the record, I do not), a Tyson victory is salivating. But, assuming that an actual boxing match develops, here is how I see it. I'm a big Lewis guy. Lewis' major flaw is taking his opponents too lightly and (at times) lack of preparation. He has lost only twice in his career, both by knockout, and both were, in my opinion a result of Lewis getting lazy and not taking the other guy seriously. He was a pretty impressive (meaning worthy opponents) 25-0 when he fought McCall. He came in overconfident and got caught by a blast. After that loss, he then rattled off 14-straight wins (I'm counting his "draw" vs Holyfield as a win) again against some pretty good competition (Mercer, Morrison, Akinwande, Golota, Holyfield, Grant, Tua, among others). And then it happened again, he got caught napping against Rahman. He was unprepared and he paid for it. He showed what he can do when focused and absolutely destroyed Rahman in the 2nd fight. I cannot see any way that Lewis comes into this fight against Tyson anything less than fully focused. I think a young and hungry Tyson easily would take him here if it was 1986. But, take a look at Tyson. Since he got out of the hole, his most impressive win is a toss-up between Botha (who he was losing badly to before he KO'd him) and Frank Bruno. That's a span of 11 years folks. Coincidentally, after this fight he dodged Lewis to fight Holyfield instead. Conspiracy theories aside, I would be seriously surprised to see Lewis lose this fight. I think Lewis has unfairly been branded with glass jaw syndrome and I see a focused Lewis frustrating Tyson and putting him away somewhere in the early to middle rounds. Would a Tyson KO surprise me? No. But, with Tyson, I've grown accustomed to not being surprised by much.
