U-Conn girls go at it with OU tonite[8.30 PM est]
Not going to repeat myself from the other day. This is probaly the best girls team ever assembled. They are 38-0 and have beaten people by a 36 pt scoring margin.
Bird is the Pl of the yr and one of the most talented girls you will ever see. Her dribbling, passing and shooting skills have to be seen. The other guard Taursi is a "jerry West" type player. Her range for her jumper is about 2 feet beyond the arc.Her passing and driving to the hoop are unstopable.
The front line is all 6'2 with 3 All Americans in Cash,Jones, and Williams.Their interior passing, defense and rebounding of this trio can control the paint on both ends.
Everyone is a senior but Taursi. This group has gone 135-9 in 4 yrs.And 5 of those losses happened when Bird was out her freshman yr with her knee problems.
Many of the experts are saying this is the greatest team ever assembled.
They are the greatest passing team I've ever seen.
In comes OU,the B-12 champ. The B-12 is the best girls conf in college. They are led by 2 gds almost as good as the Conn duo. Dales at pt can do it all.Anybody watching her falls for her game.Caufield is the scorer and can shoot the eyes out of the hoop. What a great gd tandem.
Dales was 1st team All Am.Ross the other gd had 26 pts the other day vs Duke. They have 2 solid fowards in Hill and Taubert.
Both this teams play outstanding defense.
OU back in Dec played at Conn and lost 86-72.The half time score was a 5 pt diferrence and it wasn't until 10-15 minuts left when Conn pulled away.
So OU knows they can play with them.
The one angle of Coach Gino is that he is a ruthless coach, is negated tonite.OU's coach,Coale 6 yrs ago was coaching HS and Gino recruited one of her top players Hansmeyer.Hans played for Gino in '96-2000.Hans is now Coale's asst.So there is at least one coach that likes Gino and talks to him.
That throws a huge monkey wrench in this game.Conn's frontline should dominate with the backcourt being tested tonite.A backdoor cover is very possible.Conn is better then OU.I see Conn up by 10-15 pts the last 5-10 minuts. Then it becomes a close game with the spread.
Gino won't run it up on them.OU with Dales can keep this close. But when Bird and co pass, hit the open jumpers, play that relentless defense and control the bds it's over.
I'll take Conn for a very small play. The backdoor scares me.
Will enjoy the passing precision of Conn. It's the best I've ever seen. GL
