Bruins come rolling home off a game at Reser where they gained 625 yards, with soph Tyler Ebell running for 209, and Paus ultra sharp (22-28), and his OL permitting ZERO sacks ... and as you all know, the way Erickson loves to blitz at home, that's impressive ...

Bruins are coming off double revenge here, losing in LA last year 21-20, when they had better stats but lost the TO battle -2 (paus threw for 319 LY) ...

The Dux haven't even played a remotely decent team yet, other than a scrappy Fresno squad that shouldve won that game SU in eugene ...

I bet Fresno that game and they not only outhit and outhustled the Dux, they were screwed THREE TIMES on one drive handing Oregon a huge touchdown when it appeared their wheels had come off (even the announcers agreed all 3 calls were horrible) ...

Also be aware that in Idaho game, the vandals outrushed and outpassed Oregon; and that lowly Port St almost out FDed the Dux, too; and Miss st is just awful and w/o their QB ... LW every gambler in the world jumped on Oregon, driving the line up, and at half, they were sweating ... This week I will guess many of those same players will ride them again, thinking Bruins will fold like they did against Colorado ...

Well, guess what? Col. after being beheaded by USC at home, was pissed and caught the Bruins overconfident IMO ... It's no excuse, but Col. obviously has some talent, too, showing that even more so this past weekend vs KSU ...

Anyhow, I like many things about this game, Paus exp. over Fife's first big game on rd. Fife only threw 9 passes all of last year ... The Bruins win in Corvallis is doubly impressive to me b/c they trailed 14-0 and came back with such confidence, dominating the game from then on, even tho 2 of Beavs Tds came on defense ...

I see UCLA winning by 10, line now -2.5 bruins ...

Oregon has won 6 straight pac-10 rd. games, but that was basically with Harrington at the controls/they beat a Zoan team LW that is now 3-18 ats at home ... the only thing i dont like about this game is the coaching mismatch, which is a huge factor, but i think UCLA pulls it out and the line might even go down--prob woulda liked it more if LV set it at 3, hate when they have that false FG covers line ...

pt1grd,
the question you gotta ask when playing my bruins is: are they more physical than their opponent... if they are not DO NOT PLAY THEM! see colorado this year, wisconsin last year. i do not know about ducks, yet. i do know sc and washington st. are the most physical team in pac-10 by far this year! i think cal, washington and bruins follow. oregon is my unknown!

Cory Paus is a tough guy to figure out. He is the kind of passer that can kill you with terrible throws on third down. And first down for that matter. If I could count the times he gets that dumb look on his face after skipping a pass 5 yards too short, or 10 feet too high.... It does seem that the SD State game gave him some confidence, because he was outstanding against Oregon St.

The Bruins defense is still very suspect and could give up 200 yards rushing and 40 points to Orgeon.

If Cory comes out hot and gets the jump, Oregon will have their hands full, otherwise it could ugly.

Lets eat, FYI

Lets eat, FYI

not a UW fan in least (i took Dux -3 vs UW weeks ago)... I bet on who I think loox good each week ...

I have won on your Dux (and won huge against them i.e my LOY vs Beavs 2 years ago) and it seems like you went ad hominem pretty quickly ... sorry if i touched a nerve ... I would love to see your insight and write up on why Oregon is superior play this week ... all im trying to do here is provide information, not insults... Im not sure where I said the Dux suck, I believe I said they had the better coach and, for myself, I have all the respect in the world for their program, I just believe ucla is a nice play this week ... what i do find interesting is why the oddsmakers seem to think the #25 team is 2.5 pts better than the #7 team ...

gl to all,

ok, fair enough.....in your write up you made no mention about a guy by the name of onterrio smith....this is a rushing offense first and he's a rather important piece wouldnt you agree...you mention the idaho game, although those stats are correct they were garbage time stats #1 and #2 this defense is known to give up yards just not points....you say fife only threw 9 balls last year???....what does this mean??.....he's 5-0 as a starter THIS YEAR....but you make mention about last year???as if this is his 1st start.....also you say that they havent played anyone....record wise youre right but i believe most teams come to eugene bringing their best shot against the ducks because they ranked high and are a proven powerhouse program.....you say you respect the duck program, but you see ucla winning by 10....wow you must really respect ucla's program....and yes it does sound like you have a sore ass about the ducks when your thread header says "ucla/QAUCK write-up"....seems fishy coming from seattle area thats all....good luck....i'll be on the ducks:moon:

i love onterrio smith, he ran all over Cougs LY ...

didnt mean to start any feud, but when you spend quite some time writing something up, it's not important to get accolades, but its like getting poked in they eye when someone starts to make personal assumptions about why I posted what I did ... Yes, I think Fife coming into a huge game vs a solid opponent for the first time on rd IMO is worth mentioning that he only threw 9 passes LY ... The last time the Canes lost, Dorsey made his first big start on rd vs UW here in seattle (I bet Canes BTW) and he looked like a frightened lil girl ... Is this game a lock, no? Is Fife a bad QB, no, and I dont recall ever saying that, either ...

Has Oregon played a good team, is Oregon as good as last year? We'll soon see as the pac-10 season unfolds .... And every decent team in any sport gets the best shot of any visitor, so saying that is like saying: man, they are trying to beat us.

anyhow, like i said, the last thing I ever want to do on any board is make things personal ... I try to add some insight and humor to here and dont call people out ... I guess I will defend myself when provoked by sarcasm--and that's how I felt your initial post sounded ... you might wanna go back and read it ...

so, anyway, trying to defuse any ill feelings b/c I dont have ties to any teams and I know all too well many do and people take things personally about their teams

gregg

he's awesome....

he's awesome....

how do i like him??? i love the kid...i think hes great.....freddie jones got most of the hype last yr....but i think rid was the key to that team last yr.....great speed....great court awareness....great outside shot with the ability to break down the defense....i look for him to be a huge catalyst to the ducks success this year....and i agree he'll go 1st rd.....he's got the heart of a gorilla(and a face of one too....lol) boy is he ugly....he goes to the duck foots games and i see him there up close and he's a sight for sure:lol:hey man you're allright in my book....i did attack you with some sarcasm and you difused it well...again my apologies and you owe me a good razzin' if my ducks lay an egg against ucla....good luck gregg....you gotta lean on the huskies -13.5??i'm thinking UW huge because they've goota be pissed about losing to cal....what do ya think?....shawn

be careful, shawn

be careful, shawn

cuz Neuheisel is prob worst ATS coach in country when favored by +7 ... he's flunking there again this year ... but, that said, UW does have excellent wrs and maybe they get some seperation this week vs depleted wildcats ... neuheisel is just 8-30-1 ATS when favored by 7 points or more, going back to his days at Colorado ... im not a rick fan, lil smug, yuppy to me, lied right off at UW, and now he caused all these violations at COL ... he got this ridic FAT contract, and wait and see if they dont start to fall some--UWs def. is avg. They cant run and just chuck it until they get to 30 + and hope to win games thru magic like they did when Tui was here and even last year ... the tables are slowly turning IMO, they lost close ones to Mich and Cal already, the miracles they used to pull out ...

AND: hey, who knows, Dux may win by 17 ...man I picked army to beat Rutgers earlier this year, hehe

take care, gregg

UCLA gives up 200 yards rushing and Paus throws 3 picks. Bruins had a chance to win it on FG, but the spread was covered. I had a unit on the Ducks, even though I am a UCLA fan.

u guys are welcome, I never want to be thought of as a bad sport, even tho I'll whine some on tuff breaks, hehe ... but as far as owning up to a loss I post, i hope i can always congratulate others ... Shawn, take Dux -3 vs UW at carib, i got it long ago, I think they win by FG at worst ...

now I really need Hawaii to avoid terrible day, hehe

take care,
gregg

ps not only did zona stay with td, they coulda won easily, giving up last drive bomb 80 yards to UW's reggie W. to avoid loss
