I can't wait for the Hughes Penn fight. Saying that, I'm not touching it. I think Hughes wins this fight but one thing that bugs me is that Hughes did give up his back to Twigg rather easily and it has been said that it is his weakness. We all know what happened last time Penn got on his back. Doubt it will happen but I'm not risking anythign over 175 on Hughes and right now it's over 200.

Loiseau +125 .5unit(thought he would be favored)
Lambert +200 .5unit
Griffin -600 .5unit (steep price but this kid is supposed to be the real deal and UFC was lucky to land him, well see)

Pulver -490 5units :scared
If I lose this fight I'll be even for the year on MMA events so I'm not too worried. Money management wise it's an ok bet for me.

Layin i swore hughes tanked that fight. I think he was under a lot of pressure from the ufc. After the fight he said "someone else can carry the torch now" He lost so easy unlike any other Matt Hughes match i ever witnessed. It was like he just rolled into the choke. If you remeber with Twigg, Twigg nailed him in the nuts. That fight was great and Hughes turned that around only like Hughes can. I see the fire back in his eyes so i think he wins this easy. Penn is no lightweight tho but man i swear Hughes tank that first one to get everyone off his back.

Wow, I just saw Jens at 672 now. The first time I saw it yesterday it was at 400, when I pulled the trigger it had moved up to 490. I wouldn't take it for such a large wager but I would take Jens all the way up to 850 or so. I really think it will be over quickly!

Sponge, I don't think there is anyway Hughes tanked that fight. He's way too competetive to do that. I really think that Penn is just a very good fighter. He gassed vs St Pierre but if he's in shape for this fight I can see it going either way. He can stand and bang and his Jits is awesome. I don't want money on it because I want to root for both fighters to do well so it's a good fight.

Go watch the first fight over and than look what he said afterwards. It was like this loss took this mountain of pressure off of his back. There was talk even before this fight how Matt was his own man and was getting tired of people (ufc) telling him what to do. After he wins this fight i want to see what he says. Yes he is very copetetive but sometimes when people piss you off you rebel. He lost so easy it wasn't even a fight. Probably why Penn vacated the title also. He also looks like his own man. I never did hear why he vacated the belt.

hughes lost the first fight because he met someone who knew how to execute the rear naked choke correctly, trigg didn't and he was able to break it. if trigg knew how to do it right hughes wouldn't have changed into that bright purple and broken it, he'd have been laying there unconcious.

oh please are you trying to tell me that Trigg after all these years doesn't know how to pull off a simple choke? If your trying to tell me a guy is short on boxing skills or short on wrestling skills i can buy it. Matts a stud and if he wants to win this fight he will and he does this time. This might get ugly. But i like Penn so its gonna be interesting.

matt hughes-206

swick bet i'm not that sure of, but i saw a replay of loiseau fight mcarthy and a spinning back kick finished mcarthy. the fight was pretty even until then. swick in my opinion is a much better fighter than mcarthy.wished pinnacle had parlay for ufc, but they dont.

fortunate. i thought hughes was a goner towards end of 2nd. penn was an idiot to not be in shape for a championship fight. he dominated till he ran out of gas. then he was a sitting duck. dumbass. then st. pierre made an idiotic statement. why would you give hughes bulletin board material. unless he is hyping it to get more money, but i see it working against him. gonna get his ass kicked for that one.

ok so guess I was wrong.....Swick did win :mj07:

and what the hell happened to Pulver....that was hilarious...he loses in 48 seconds :scared

oh and I have been saying this forever now.......I can't wait for the GSP/Hughes match......GSP will win..............and by the way GSP is the nicest guy in the world, he was just responding to Hughes pointing at him 5 seconds after the fight ended....then Hughes walked to the fence and said something to him. We only heard what George said, and it really wasn't that bad. But FWIW George will win that fight..........and yes I admit it I have a huge man crush on GSP...GSP is my boy :mj07:

it stuns me that ANY professional fighter doesn't have proper cardio. it was easy for penn while he had the juice, but in between rounds it looked like all the sand went out of him. no way he gets caught like that if he was fresh.

as for the previous reply to my post, yes frank trigg didn't execute that choke properly. opinions vary but a screw up is a screw up.

after the fight rogan said that gsp was genuinely upset that hughes got mad over his comment. gsp did it strictly for marketing. it did seem completely out of character. hoping for a good rematch. imagine if bj had really been in shape. he probably would have completely dominated.

i hope the guys that actual watch this stuff heard what Joe rogan and the other announcer said for the first three minutes opening up for tonights card. They basically said that they were really befuddled from some of Matt's comments before and after the first fight. He just didnt care if he won or lost. How in the hell no one thought this but me is amazing. He tank that first fight or he never gave it much thought. I will say this tho Penn is an animal with no discipline. He had this fight won tomight but he might rather lay on the beach more than wanting to win a fight.

Nothing pisses me off more than a person who has all the talent in the world and doesn't care. If BJ worked as hard as Matt he would be the best pound for pound in the world.

It was a good fight to watch, I was suprised at how BJ controlled it for the first two rounds. Hughes beat the snot out of him in the 3rd.

I feel like I do at the end of a football game when one team loses and you know it's because they didn't for whatever reason come into the game with all they could but that they where still the better team. I think BJ is a better fighter but he just doesn't give a rats ass.

PS Jens "little evil" Pulver can kiss my arse.
