I mean come on, I love this price on Houston, I think he'll walk through Silva:SIB

have not decided yet, but Spencer Fisher looks like a good pick and price, and I might take a shot at the big odds on Bisping, odds might be too good to pass up

did you see that the roger huerta/clay guida fight was made for the ultimate fighter finale show?....

i said awhile back that this is a fight i`d love to see....

they have guida at -145 ...huerta at +105.....i guess they figure that guida`s wrestling and stamina will be the difference....not sure that huerta`s stamina isn`t every bit as good....

may go with huerta...he`s been good to me...

fischer and frankie edgar is another insane match-up....anybody else remember the huerta/edgar fight?......huerta put a beating on edgar, but edgar just kept on coming....he`s tough as nails...as is fisher...i lean fisher a bit as well...but,i wonder at what point all these wars he`s in take their toll....

these guys could kill each other...

alexander scares me a little...even though his stand-up is scary, he`s a tad one-dimensional...

love these lighter weights....

sorry...it was leonard garcia that fought the war with huerta...i get garcia and edgar mixed up for some reason...

edgar`s undefeated with a win over tyson griffin(griffin`s the only guy to beat uriah faber...and that`s saying something)...

fisher/edgar is an unbelievable match-up....fisher might be naturally bigger though...

how`s about a 155 round-robin....tyson griffin/uriah faber/frank edgar/fisher/troy guida and roger huerta......

just insane...

I don't know who I'll be betting on until pinnacle puts their lines out, however, I'm leaning towards:

Rashad Evans over Michael Bisping
Frankie Edgar over Spencer Fisher
Thiago Alves over Chris Lytle

My picks on the other fights are:

Karo Parisyan over Ryo Chonan
Houston Alexander over Thiago Silva
Joe Doerksen over Ed Herman
Akihiro Gono over Tamdan McCrory
Marcus Aurelio over Luke Caudillo
Joe Lauzon over Jason Reinhardt

Houston
Evans odds are too high for me to play him(-280).
Karo as well(-330).

Alexander at (-130) seems VERY LOW based on his last few fights.

GW, you missed some other 155'ers that need to be in the round robing. BJ Penn mainly but then Sherk when he gets cleared or earlier if something else happens, KenFlo and Joe Stevenson. You add those guys and you could have a HELL of a 155 tourny.

As for the fights this week.

I love watching Houston fight because he loves to stand and bang but this could be an all out war. I can see him losing but there's too much of a chance for either guy to lose from one big punch so i'm not touching it. I'm not sure about any other fights yet, I haven't seen the lines.

I wasn't to excited about this UFC but the closer it gets the more I look forward to it.

layin...i was trying to mention the guys that are somewhat on the periphery....not the big names like penn/sherk/kenflo etc.......

stevenson was an omission on my part...he gets better and better with each fight....he has serious subs to go with that wrestling background...

this division is insanely deep with oodles of young talent...

and this card(which i put down in this forum before knowing wth i was talking about),looks like a really good card....

not the big names....but,contenders and up and comers fighting one another in matches that are tough to predict....and the matches seem to be made with just that in mind instead of what you get in boxing where a contender fights 25 stiffs before sniffing any resistance...

and on cable saturday night you have humberto soto vs joan guzman(a match-up that is legitimately worthy of ppv status).....

beautiful....

btw,heres a nice preview w/some picks,some pics,and some analyses....

Huge MMA fan, and here are my picks for tonight
-------------------------------------------------------

Evans over Bisping: Bisping is so overrated it's not even funny.

Alexander over Silva: Someone is gonna get KO'd, you can almost gurantee it. Would be a nice prop bet.

Fisher over Edgar:Fisher hasn't fought in almost 6mo, but was impressive against Stout. Look for him to shake off the rust and win a decision.

Reinhardt over Lauzon: Reinhardt is very experienced and has paid his dues to get this far. I think people are going to be impressed.

McCrory over Gono: This is an interesting matchup. Gono is the experienced guy, and McCrory is the guy who puts on a show. We'll see.

Chonan over Parisyan: This is a gamble pick for me. Chonan is very tough, his losses aren't against can's either. He's also the only person to turely beat Anderson Silva besides Takase.

Alves over Lytle: Alves is on top of his game of late, and I'm not much of a fan of Lytle.

Herman over Doerksen: Doerksen is the more experienced fighter and has seen better competition. But I'm going for the upset IMO.

My last 2 UFC events have demolished my record.
UFC 77: 3-6

Was sitting around 55-27. Got caught up in who I wanted to win instead of picking who I knew would win.

This card is going to be good to me.

Good thoughts and input, but you said you were playing the upset in Ed Herman. Herman is -150 so how is that the upset?
I agree with you on Chonan(+290). Odds are way too high to pass up.

Rashad Evans over Michael Bisping
Frankie Edgar over Spencer Fisher
Thiago Alves over Chris Lytle

My picks on the other fights are:

Karo Parisyan over Ryo Chonan
Houston Alexander over Thiago Silva
Joe Doerksen over Ed Herman
Akihiro Gono over Tamdan McCrory
Marcus Aurelio over Luke Caudillo
Joe Lauzon over Jason Reinhardt

Sticking with:

Rashad Evans over Michael Bisping -264 big

Rashad is better at everything but submissions.

Frankie Edgar over Spencer Fisher -119 med

The difference in wrestling is too much for Spencer.

Thiago Alves over Chris Lytle -174 med

Speed and kickingboxing along with Lytle's inability to win decisions.

and adding:

Tamdan McCrory over Akihiro Gono +212 small

Gono will be debuting in the UFC, so there's the unfamiliarity aspect with the cage, but also despite being a 183 lber in Pride he is smaller in weight and greatly smaller in height; 6'4" vs. 5'7". Also, Gono has a bad habit of covering up when opponents throw big flurries. He did it against Hector Lombard and some low level Korean guy whose name is escaping me. They had him pinned in the corner and blasted away. He survived with no ill effects, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a hasty ref stoppage if the same happens in the UFC. On top of that, Tamdan has come out aggressive with flurries in some of his fights. Gono isn't a big striker either he's a counter puncher who throws single punches. I'm counting on the reach advantage playing into Tamdan's hands and his ground game being good enough to survive any sub attempts. Gono's ground game is what concerns me, but Tamdan is undefeated in 8 or so fights so, we'll see.

edgar does have homefield advantage....fisher standing...edgar on the ground...but,fisher has sneaky subs...

i honestly haven`t come across one guy picking thiago silva over alexander.....and this crappy line won`t move off -160/+140.......

?????????:mj16: :wtf:

i sure wish this fricking line would move commensurate with public opinion.....i`ll take a whack with silva....but,if this fight`s a walkover,i`d like to get fair compensation....figuratively,at least....

i was really impressed with lauzon in the ultimate fighter show....,but -500 is outta line......so i parred him......since then,i`ve read reinhardt`s decent....

wonder if it`d be worthwhile to just play most of the dogs?....s

rashad is not a very buisy fighter.

if it stays on the feet he can outwork him.

1. Fisher got dominated like I've never seen before.

2. I think the Silva fight was stopped pre-mature.

3. How in the **** could ANY judge score 29-28 for Bisping? He won 1 round and it was the 2nd, that's it. I'm tired of the hosing he's got goin his way. I know he lost, but still.

4. Geez Karo, could you atleast done something accept lay on your opponent?

5. The Herman analogy was in my own opinion. IMO Doerkeson had fought better competition and was more experienced. I know alot of ppl aren't very liking of Herman, but he's showed alot in his last 2 fights.

a basically boring card...that surprises me.....

not surprised that edgar beat fisher...i am surprised that fisher may not have had one really good moment in the whole fight....total domination....

and alexander?.....lol...it`s almost like the books sucked everybody in....they lay a line that was low in many folk`s opinion....and every mma and gambling forum i checked,it was easily 3 or 4 to 1 on alexander.....probably higher...

the line basically held steady....and i don`t believe for a second that the wagering on the fight was fairly even.....i don`t care who comes into the thread and says different...i don`t believe it for a second...

alexander`s a poor mans phil baroni...he`s about as much of a martial artist as ernie shavers was...

i`m glad i felt like a contrarian tonight....at least on that one....

rashad has some serious stamina issues.....and bisping really ain`t all that good standing up....he`s a light puncher....they make you appreciate guys like forrest griffin....

alves won on a controversial lytle cut.....and joe lauzon looks like a future legit contender if he continues to improve....he`s good....

herman`s getting better but he loses focus sometimes....

a good night...but actually,the show was kinda dull.....

a nice wec show coming up in early december....

hope everyone did well...

I disagree with the Alexander/Baroni statement.

Baroni just basically comes out and slugs it almost like a Tank Abbot.

Alexander has technique and skills to his boxing. Alexander just got caught in a full mount.

Tell me 1 fighter you know who's ever been caught in full mount against another ELITE fighter?

I do agree the fight card was basically boring. However, I will go out and say this.

UFC 79 is going to be the best PPV ever, and it'll break all attendance and PPV buying records for the UFC.

This is the best 1-2-3 card I think the UFC's ever had.

Hughes-Serra
Wanderlei-Liddell
Machida-Sokoudjou

heck, and I'm even lookin forward to Clementi-Guillard.
