I think you have to take a shot with brown at home in ohio getting 2-1(although brown itd at +270 is tempting).....

parring "silva/brown doesn`t go 5 rds" w/ nik lentz....brown could get subbed or silva just gasses in the mid to late rounds...not a fight where I see either`guy humping the other for 5 rds.....should be action-packed and violent...

if you like silva and don`t want to lay -235 I`d look at silva by sub at +150(brown`s been subbed 9 times in 11 losses)....or hedge brown +200 w/ silva by sub at +150)....

g.l.

I have an almost lock

soa palelei

i watched footage of ruan potts, seriously he is inept, not that he's a bad guy or doesn't give an honest effort

he doesn't have the skills

soa is a workout beast while be it a crude one, very strong and devastating

potts is cannon fodder

Did anyone watch Yan Cabral's fight vs David Mitchell back in October? It was probably the best pure bjj match I have ever seen in the UFC. Cabral was always one step ahead of Mitchell (no slouch in his own right), then Mitchell would counter and Cabral would go ahead. If you have UFC Fight Pass, really check out that fight. The transitions were really fun to watch. Taking a look at Zak Cummings, he's won nine of his 16 victories via submission (three straight chokes, rear-naked, guillotine, brabo). Will definitely be worth the watch, but if Cummings wants to stay on the ground - he's in for it.

Also, I really like Erik Koch vs Daron Cruickshank. Koch's speed is good enough to close the distance vs The Detroit Superstar. I don't think Koch will allow him to work his length and if Daron gets taken down, he will struggle. Also think Daron fights a little more flashy than he should, and his fight IQ isn't too hot (I think similarly to Donald Cerrone but obviously less talented). I think because Koch has a good chin, he will win by ground and pound TKO.

Speaking of fighters with low IQs, how about Erick Silva? I think Matt Brown based on value (hoping he's recovered from his past injuries).

Really like: Salas, Lentz, Cabral, Smolka, Koch, Larkin
Kind of like: Wineland, Herman, Palelei, Means, Brown
Hate: Gamburyan, Natal, Cariaso, Potts, Philippou, Silva

Good luck on all of your bets everyone!

akatdrake comes out firing on his 1st Madjack post ever:scared

going with erik silva over matt brown due to the speed deficit

silva just have to fight a little smarter

everyone's waiting for him to put the complete package together vs a top notch guy

he was brilliant vs the japanese cab driver

now bright lights, hometown of matt brown

time to shine like a supernova or get waxed

Thanks man. I've lurked at this forum for a long time. I post at another forum, but I'm literally the only poster, and because Covers is a troll-fest, hoping to get in on the great discussion here! :popcorn2

Been watching MMA since Tito/Chuck, recently started studying BJJ from a student of Cleber Luciano and am about half-way to my second stripe on my white belt. We've had UFC veteran Brock Larson up to teach a grappling/wrestling class, and next weekend have Cleber in for a seminar. July 12th none other than Cris Cyborg Justino is teaching a muay thai class as well. I am stoked for that.

I hope to add lots of discussion to this forum!!

Love both of these fighters, especially Silva's potential (but he is 29...). BJJ black belt, and Judo black belt, KO power in both hands, but boy the guy is not smart. Seems like he gets all hyper and blows his adrenaline and forgets he's fighting in a ring with rules (vs Prater), he drops his hands vs the Stun Gun and ka-powie! He's a guy I really love betting, but like you said Thong, he needs to put it all together and we're all still waiting for that.

welcome..the opinions seem solid.......I`m thinking that brown will have to pressure silva(that`s what he does) and silva isn`t exactly a shrinking violet...violence ensues.....brown wears down silva by sheer will or gets careless(get`s subbed or caught, even though he`s tough to k.o.)....

top 2 fights are very interesting...I`ll be disappointed if lentz loses here....he`s been very tough at this weight and losing to mendes(not many hang with mendes like lentz did...mendes was apologizing for his performance afterward...no need because lentz is tough at the weight)....

g.l....

Albert Tumenov def. Anthony Lapsley by KO at 3:56, R1

That was a nice short left hook:00x15

Boy I wonder if that weight cut affected him? He was gunshy after that first left hook landed early and just didn't move or get out of the way enough. Tumenov's sprawl was pretty good (Lapsley 1 for 4 on takedowns) but when you're afraid of the counter on the way in, you don't put all of what you've got into the takedown. It looked like Lapsley was just confused as to what to do. He was running away along the fence without his hands up, just not a good performance by Lapsley. That being said, good work for Tumenov - looked more like a veteran instead of a youngster.

Ha, I don't think I've heard a fighter described as a "Ground and Pound fighter" like Ben Wall was...
