College Hoops record to date 6-4-1 +4.4 units

Going with 2 ballclubs who are playing pretty good ball, facing 2 ballclubs who are highly favored in terms of consensus.

Charlotte +2.5 1 unit
Pepperdine +3.5 2 units

Why??

Charlotte comes into tonights matchup with South Florida playing their best ball of the season. They ran St. Louis out of Charlotte with a 28 point spanking earlier in the week. Charlotte has failed to show up in big road games this season, losing at Cincinnati, Miami, Fla., Temple and Florida. I think tonight Charlotte steps up to the plate and walks out of the Bulls Gym with a victory. South Florida lost focus since a mid December loss to Florida and have been up and down ever since. They played pathetic ball at Memphis earlier this week. I like the team playing the better ball, especially when they are getting points. One consensus site has 116 people favoring South Florida and 48 people favoring Charlotte. I tend to go against the consensus and those numbers look good to me.

Pepperdine comes into tonight's game riding a 4 game winning streak. They have been beaten once on their home court; a pounding to Georgia. But this Pepperdine Team was tough in early December, beating USC and UCLA. Right after those 2 wins, Pepperdine fell into a funk and played poorly, but they have pulled a Lazarus act and have awakened to play good ball their past 4 games. Gonzaga comes in riding a 10 game winning streak, they will be tough to beat tonight, but I think the home crowd will be a major factor and the Waves will pull off a close win. Gonzaga is gaining in terms of popularity, and line value in them is decreasing. 145 people favor Gonzaga tonight, while 40 favor Pepperdine at a consensus site.

2-0 +3 units for the night
8-4-1 +7.4 units for College Hoops

Charlotte pulled off a big second half comeback and finally stepped up to the plate and won on the road against a quality ballclub. The slide continues for South Florida.

Pepperdine as expected used their standing room only crowd as a 6'th man and upset Gonzaga. Pepperdine has recovered and are playing the tough basketball they were in early December.

On paper both of these games were ugly plays as I went up a against pretty strong consensus. But as I stated early in the week, the teams I like to play at times look pretty hideous; but in my book the uglier the better.
