College Hoops Record 3-2-1 +3.8 units

Wisconsin-Milw. +2.5 2 units
Illinois-Chicago +3.5 1 unit
Louisiana Tech +2 3 units
Fresno St. -6.5 2 units
Arizona -4.5 1 unit

Why??

Wisconsin Milwaukee is banged up; lost their leading rebounder for the season 2 weeks ago, top reserve may not go tonight. Wright St. is playing very good ball, winning this week at Clev. St., losing a heartbreaker at Detroit, and winning at Butler. Take a look at the schedules though and UWM has played the tougher schedule. For whatever reason the line is moving toward banged up UWM and that puzzles me.......I'll bite on this one and go with UWM.

Loyola-Chicago is on a tear, fresh off road victories over Wis-Milw, and Wis. Green Bay; the Ramblers come home to face inner city rival UIC. The Ramblers have been tough at home with recent victories over Detroit and Cleveland St. This game will be a war, the Bailey Brothers will face off against each other, Martell of UIC and high scoring David of Loyola. UIC has cooled off after a hot start and was pummeled over the weekend at Wis-Milw. I like taking the points in the Civil War of Chicago.

I look for Louisiana Tech to use its home cookin tonight to step up and defeat a good Tulsa Ballclub. Tech has stumbled recently against Hawaii and SMU and they need this game.

Fresno never seems to cover the number. Lots of talent, but too much of a me first approach to the ballgame. Fresno will have a huge height and speed advantage in this one, but Boise has the better shooters. Boise has performed well at home this season, but has been pounded by athletic ballclubs such as Tulsa, SMU and Louisiana Tech. I think Fresno finally steps up to the plate and gets it going tonight.

USC has been on an 8 game tear of late. They are playing the best ball of any PAC 10 Team. Arizona has been up and down of late after a hot start. I don't understand why oddsmakers made Arizona a 4 point favorite; I thought the spread would be close to even if not USC slightly favored. Arizona needs this game to stay in the race, I think they will prevail and cool off the Trojans.

Not a good night at all 3-2 for the night and +.6 units
Record to date 6-4-1 +4.4 units

Looking at a couple of the games I posted; Wisc-Milw. pissed away a double figure first half lead, then pissed away a double figure lead in the waning minutes. The game goes to OT and UWM prevails. Wright St. made only 12 of 19 free throws in the ballgame. Check all the message boards; most people thought Wright St. was a gimme. UWM actually was bought down from 4 to 1 by gametime, heavy steam involved. To be honest the only reason I played UWM was because such a huge amount of posters were on Wright St. One site had 174 people on Wright st. and 71 on UWM.

Cedric Banks was the only player to show up tonight for UIC, he scored over 30 points. A huge difference in this game foulwise; Loyola went to the line 25 times, UIC went 12 times and only made 6 free throws. UIC is in a funk these past few games, not even a rivalry game with a crosstown foe could help pull UIC out of their funk.

Louisiana Tech pissed away a 4 point lead in the final 2 minutes and let Tulsa sneak out of town with a hard fought victory. Louisiana Tech needs to learn how to finished tight ballgames against quality competition before they can garner national respect. Tulsa plays balls out each game and they find ways to win the close ones.

One game I played which I did not post was Pacific +4; speaking about a team who cannot finish a ballgame, Pacific takes the cake tonight. Pacific is up 15 at the half then scores only 19 points in the second half to lose by 4. Cal Irvine just didn't quit and scored the final 5 points of the ballgame to get the win.

All in all a very frustrating night!!!!!
