New Mexico State is only 1-4, but that love victory was huge beating Troy to be 1-0 in Sun Belt play. The Aggies lost their other four games by a total of 187 to 30, and UL Lafayette has to add to the pain. With a win over MTSU, the Ragin' Cajuns are also hoping to be in the hunt for the New Orleans Bowl. It might not be Cal-USC, but it's a battle of unbeaten teams in conference.
Why ULL might win: UL Lafayette leads all Sun Belt teams in scoring averaging 24.2 points per game and leads the league in rushing. By contrast, NMSU is dead last in college football in total offense and scoring offense averaging 227.4 yards and 10.4 points per game.
Why NMSU might win: It's hard to see too many positive things in a team that scored three points in the last two games, but the Aggies have to use the home field advantage and needs the defense to play like it did against Troy. UL Lafayette almost lost to Florida International with a defense that isn't strong enough to simply show up and shut down the Aggies.
Who to watch: UL Lafayette sophomore QB Jerry Babb is growing into the Sun Belt's best quarterback. He'll make plenty of mistakes still throwing too many interceptions, but he's a strong runner and is making more big plays down field. He's coming off a fantastic game against FIU throwing for 302 yards and a touchdown.
What will happen: New Mexico State is more confident at home, but it's offense is doing absolutely nothing.
CFN Prediction: UL Lafayette 27 ... New Mexico State 23 ... Line: UL Lafayette -3
