looks like a difficult card in which the fave`s are not locks....

was looking at sylvia, fisher, goulet and ficket in some small parlays....

but, this card is very tough...full of young, hungry guys...

would like to hear some opinions before i wade in and end up getting jack-slapped into next week.....

Silvia seems pretty safe to include in the parlays.

I think Bonner & Von Flue are favored a little high. I'll probably take the underdog in each contest. Bonner hasn't really done much since his fight with Griffin. I read somewhere that Bonner doesn't have a 'team' he trains with like most guys. Irvin is priced at +175. I'll take it.

Von Flue (from season 2 TUF) came on the show late. He didn't look all that impressive. I'll wait and see what the line does but +180 on Karalexis seems decent.

I may just parlay Silvia with each of these underdogs. I love these free fight shows.

fyi - 5dimes has odds out on Liddell/Couture. Liddell is up to -220 now.. Randy in his last fight looked very tired after 3 rounds and Van Arsdale rocked him a couple times. I think it is about time for Randy to retire, Liddell has great sprawl (takedown defense) and if Randy cannot take him down like he did in the first fight it will be lights out again. Liddell is just on a tear right now. I already bet the -220.

good luck.

no clear favs
small play on bonnar.
Until that flying knee that ko'd Martin, Irvin was losing the fight.
Bonnar should have equivalent or better ground skills and his standup isn't that bad.

might bet small on..
Riley - He's a vet with decent skills.
Karalexis - Von Flue didn't look that good on TUF II.
Guillard - Rate this pretty even, so I'll take the + $.
Leben - Tough fight, but I think he will pull it out, this will go to decision.

some coverage of the local fighters on tonights card...

http://www.qctimes.net/articles/2006/01/16/sports/doc43cb44c44d3db851191086.txt

Sylvia -275 to win 1 unit.... should smash the smaller and less experienced Silva inside of one round. Sylvia's training has been going well and he is eager to re-gain the heavweight belt sometime in 2006. This is just a chance to pound on someone outside his own camp. Big chalk but as close to a sure thing that exists in the UFC.

Irvin +180 1 unit to win 1.8 units....Said I would fade Bonnar after watching him totally run out of gas late in his last fight. Think both him and Griffith are over-rated as fighters but are in the UFC due to the show they put on in the TUF I final. Good price on the dog here.

Leban -145 to win 1 unit.....The "Cat smasher" is back and ready to pound on a new opponent. While Rivera is a tough fighter, I feel that the UFC has big plans for Leban-- I think we see him on a PPV card later this year--maybe even fighting for the title at 185.

Karalexis +178 1 unit to win 1.78 units....Neither of these two impressed me at all in seasons I or II of TUF. Nice price on what I see as a pick-em fight.

Sylvia/Fisher/Neer parlay 1 unit to win 1.898 units

Gotta toss this one in there in support of the three Miletich fighters that are on tonight's card.

Just hoping to see some decent action tonight...

lots of guys liking karalexis....and i think guilliard is a fantastic athlete.......

you can get both at almost 2 for 1....worth small plays.....

von flue is bigger...and he`s tough...,but he`s not skilled at all....

maybe follow the consensus small....

Won the two chalk plays, lost the two dog plays and my hometown posse got it done for the parlay play. totals for last night: 3-2 +1.89 units.

Leban was impressive with the quick knockout, Bonner looked good in submitting his opponent, and Sylvia had his hands full with the Brazilian, who is built like a tank and took Sylvia's punches like he had armor on....

Matt Hughes Vs Royce Gracie in May should be a fun fight.
