Well after 5 days I finally got my bet settled with Pinnacle Sportsbook. Here is my AMAZING bet. Remember I told everyone I was going to wager $1000 on USC to win the NC, well I wagered even more and got extreme value.

$1590 to win $12,537 on USC to win the National Championship!!!!!

Thur. night I deposited money into Pinnacle to bet on USC to win the National Championship. Pinnacle did not have USC on there list to win the NC. I expected USC to be @ +350 to win it all. USC was NOT listed but they at a FIELD bet. The field was +940 to win it all. I immediately put $500 (max) bet at a time on it because the field means all teams NOT listed. I then e-mailed Pinnacle to make sure USC will be included and I will win my wager if USC wins the bet. I also complained that the field was NOT listed in my review wager bet. I wanted documentation and no discrepancy's if I am fortunate enough to win this wager. Well I called Pinnacle Friday morning and they confirmed to me that USC was included in the field. SO I put $1090 more onto the bet and the vig kept going lower and lower each time i was wagering on it.

Later Friday in the afternoon Pinnacle finally e-mailed me back and said USC was not in the wager. I was furious and immediately called them back and today (Tues.) a supervisor called me back and told me they were going to honor the bet even though it was a clear mistake by them. He said I did everything I could possibly do to to find out if USC was included and they respected my good intention. I am so freaking happy and I am ecstatic to get such extreme value on USC AND the Field to win the National Championship.

I had to share this with Madjacks and let everyone know what a GREAT sportsbook Pinnacle is. It truly is the best sportsbook around and you can be assured they will do the right thing in honoring wagers and your money being safe. I HIGHLY recommend them and they are a very honorable sportsbook. Pinnacle did the right thing and there is no reason NOT to play at Pinnacle Sportsbook.

Now I got Florida St., USC + The Field to win the NC.

These are the teams "NOT" in the Field who I will be rooting against this season. Any other team wins it all I am happy but the team I am banking on is USC but its nice to have the field as well.

Teams NOT in my Field bet.
Georgia
Oklahoma
Miami
Florida State
LSU
Texas
Michigan
Ohio State
Florida
Kansas State
Auburn
Clemson
Virginia Tech
Virginia
Tennessee
Iowa
Nebraska
ND
UCLA

I am thinking I might have a chance of West Virginia or Utah running the table and sneaking in. Both are good teams and have easy schedules. I unfortunately do not see any other realistic teams that can win it all for me but like I said, USC is the team I am counting on.

Here is the reason I was going to take USC +350 for $1000. First of all this is USC's easiest schedule in the last 15+ years. USC is ranked #1 heading into the season and if USC runs the table it is VERY VERY unlikely USC will be jumped twice in the polls. Especially since USC usually DOMINATES opponents and wins big. USC is the media darling and plays exciting football which helps a lot in the polls.

USC is a super talented team and I am "hoping" that USC can be undefeated after the 1st half of the season. I am extremely confident USC will not lose in the 2nd half of the season but the 1st half worry's me. Only real contender to upset USC is V-Tech and that is because it is the 1st game of season and USC has suddenly suffered many injuries within the last 10 days. Not to mention 60k Hokie fans. USC should win this game (vegas has USC -17.5) and after that USC has a bye and few easier games to get experienced. Just got to win this V-Tech game and should be smooth sailing for USC. I have just heard today Williams MOST likely won't be back for V-Tech and actually might not be back at all for the season. That sucks for my wager but if Williams is let back it is slam dunk USC gets to the title game. If Williams is not let back I still think USC gets to the title game but may be harder to win the title game.

Again, if you think USC can start the year off 4-0 I am 90% confident USC runs the table this year and makes it to the title game. Take USC +350 if you think USC can start the year 4-0! Not sure USC will win the NC game or not but the goal is getting to the title game and take it from there. USC most likely will be favored in the title game if they make it there so it will be EASY to hedge if you choose too. I think this bet has a lot of value even at +350 because USC is loaded with talent, superior coaching staff, and a relatively easy schedule. If you think I am full of hot smoke about USC, just look at how Vegas has USC as double digit favorites over every team they play. I think -17.5 is the lowest line USC is favored.

By game 4 USC will be experienced and be playing the same type of football you have seen USC play the last 2 years at the end of the season where nobody comes close to beating them. USC also this year will have their best defense since Pete Carroll arrived at USC. Remember, Carroll had #1 defenses as a DC in the NFL. LOT and LOTS of talent on the defensive side of the ball (except no shut down corners :cursin: ).

Hopefully Leinart does not get injured (he does have sore arm right now) but if he does USC still has a shot at running the table because I think USC will have a great rushing attack and a great defense. Not to mention the backup QB's are talented so that gives some hope!

I pray the USC vs V-Tech game this saturday resembles nothing like the V-Tech vs Miami game last year. :scared

Wouldn't it be sweet to have a USC vs FSU matchup!!! :) Well those are my 2 favorite teams this year!

If you guys played any real teams then you wouldn't be favored by such margins rather than sleepwalking your way to the Pac 10 title. You have 1 hard game the whole year. You are such a riot. Go haunt someone else's house please.

Then maybe you should take USC to win the National Championship as well! :) USC is +350 which is a pretty nice price if you believe what you just said. You easily could hedge that bet because if USC makes it to the title game they will be favored or at worst the game would be a pk. I think you just found yourself a great bet that will pay you 3.5 to 1 and give you room to hedge.

BTW, USC pre-season SOS is ranked almost 2x tougher than LSU who most consider the top team in the SEC conf. Source CFN
So I think USC is playing some "real" teams. I also think USC is fortunate not to play any powerhouse teams. This def. is a national championship type schedule and that played a big part in me placing this wager. That is exactly why I posted it and offered my advice on the wager that I placed. If I am fortunate enough to profit off this wager, then I hope as a result of me posting this thread, at least one person on madjacks will make money as well.

I think you have trouble reading and understanding my post. I am suggesting to take USC to win the NC and I am giving Pinnacle its props for being considered the #1 sports-book. This is a great example as to why its such a respected sportsbook. If you do not like my post, then you can go find another thread to post in or better yet, make yourself productive and post something about college football and not criticize me. I will never understand your obsession over me. Simply ignore me if you dislike me.

cant seem to locate where you made your wager though...dont have a field to win NC under futures....they must have taken it off the board

Congrats on the great odds.......but really it doesnt matter what the odds are if USC or one of the field teams doesnt win the NC.......you are still out $1590

Have you considered the fact that there have not been to many re-peat national champs in college football in the last 30 yrs.........to my recollection it may have happened twice, once or maybe not at all.................remember no matter how easy you think USC's schedule is........its always easier getting there than staying there..........

Good luck and If I were in your shoes I would have done the same thing........but I always end of thinking future bets are not good investments for me ............you can maybe hedge down the line so you can get back some of your stake.......

again good luck..........

Scott,

This is a question I am just curious about and others might want to know as well:

What happens if there is another split national championship? I am merely guessing, but I would think they would take the BCS champ, in which case only LSU would have been the winner last year. Let me know what the verdict is on that one and I am sure it would avoid controversy later as well.

you got very lucky scott. several times i have attempted to capitalize on obvious mistakes by books and each time my plays were considered a no play

I always try and capitalize on mistakes from books. Sometimes the books would leave their 2nd half line up for few minutes into the 3rd quarter and I have not been burned yet doing that but I also do not lay $1000's on a bad line. So maybe they do not care if I win $100 or so. For what you said is exactly why I e-mailed them and called them for documentation. No way did I want to risk USC winning it all them canceling the bet. That is why they honored the bet because I did everything in good faith. Sometimes if you call and report a bad line, the book gives you $25 or $50.

*Carib is the book that is sometimes slow in taking off 2h lines and they always honored the bet. Pinnacle is NEVER slow. :)

If there is another split national championship I could lose my bet. My bet clearly states the winner of the 2005 Orange Bowl. Lucky for me both polls carry the weight who gets there and not the BCS computers.

Last year I got burned. I took USC $100 to win $1500 to win the "BCS" NC and lost my wager. 2 years ago I had $100 to win $5000 on USC to win the NC and USC came in 4th. So in the last 2 years years I came very close, hopefully I nail it this year or else I am out $1590 and maybe $500 more with FSU!

maverick2112

Thanks for nice words and I very well know I can lose this bet. Its called gambling and if I lose I will lose a lot of money but it is well worth it because I capped it out and feel good + i got extreme value that I was fortunate to get. So if I lose I would still do it again. If I could get OU at 12-1
I would lay $1000 on them as well. Wouldn't you? I also have a lot of room to hedge as long as USC does not lose early or NOT THIS SATURDAY! I am fortunate that USC starts season #1 so that is a huge advantage in my favor. I am also lucky BCS thrown out because USC SOS will most likely not be a top 20 SOS.

I agree with you futures are a bad bet. Sportsbook has huge advantages with futures bets. In this case, I think USC +350 (5dimes) is a very solid bet. You do not have to place a LARGE wager, but throw a unit or 2 on it. I am telling you winning a wager that pays 3.5-1 is a nice payday and I think USC will get to the title game (winning it may be another thing).

*Didn't you win a huge bet on the Pistons last year in the NBA Finals? How about winning another futures bet this year with USC winning the NC!!!! :)

I put the all my bets thur. night and Friday morning and by Friday afternoon Pinnacle took off the field bet because it was a mistake on their part. THey have not put it back up and I am not sure why. Why doesn't Pinnacle have USC winning the NC??? WHY? Every book does and most have USC at around +300. Maybe Pinnacle strongly feels USC wins out. Unfortunately for my field bet, Pinnacle has a ton of great teams listed in their NON FIELD.

Good luck to NC ST. this year and I think you have a great coach. Just don't beat Florida St. ;)

Betone

Thanks and I really enjoyed the USC series with Auburn. I know USC got the best of the 2 games but your fans are class acts and I am now an Auburn Tiger fan because of that series. Good luck this season and I love watching Cadillac play.

*I am now more confident Mike Williams WILL be returning back to USC this season. Not for V-Tech but maybe the next game. It has been confirmed Mike Williams DID PASS his 2 summer schools classes. I do not see how the NCAA cannot let him back. This is GREAT news for my future bet and another reason for all of you to throw at least a couple units on USC to win the NC. 5dimes has USC +350 which is the best line I have seen.

Nice bet Scott! You are in a no-lose situation - as even if USC implode or fall short, you have so much room to leverage your money on good hedge bets. Well done and good luck!!!

Won't have much value when USC loses to
California.

You sure did show your home cards early.
