I would also point out these are payroll statistics, they don't count money earned by many more folks nowadays (compared to the past) in home office settings, consulting, other stuff similar to that, or winning at your sportsbetting.

Payroll job slump of 2% loss is quite smaller than the 4.4% of 1958, and there are others before and since that were larger I can't recall..... still, comparing a mild cyclyical job downturn to the great Depression would only fly if tons of folks are ignorant of economics---but then again, look at how many take seriously Michael Moore's fantasies!
