from fightnews CANADA:
Former world champion Juan Urango (20-1-1 16KO) vowed to recapture the IBF World championship he lost in 2007 to Ricky Hatton. "Every day since January 20, 2007, I've thought about winning my title back," said Urango Tuesday as he faced off versus Hermann Ngoudjo (17-2 9KO) in advance of this Friday's vacant super-lightweight championship fight broadcast on ESPN's Friday Night Fights.
"It was a beautiful experience to be world champion, both for me and the people, my fans; it is something I would like again. I want the big names; I don't want to dodge anybody."
Urango declared himself well prepared with 2-1/2 months training and 130 rounds under his belt. "There's only two things you can do wrong in preparing for a fight," declared the Columbian talking through an interpreter, "Under-prepare or over-prepare, I think with Hatton it was a case of over-preparing a bit. It was my first really big fight and I trained for something like four months. I identify myself as champion, it's been a long hard road to get here, but I'm thankful of the opportunity."
Ngoudjo was equally determined, and promised to beat Urango at his own game, "I am willing to mix with you "Iron Twin", to back you up and beat you at your own game and we will see who has got the best chin, the best stamina."
Ngoudjo's trainer Howard Grant, who was by his fighter's side but won't be in the corner Friday as a result of a three month suspension, said they know what they're getting with Urango. "Unless he's changed in the last year, he's going to be coming straight at Hermann," Grant told Fightnews, "This has all the makings of a classic and I can tell you we're ready. Hermann has had no easy fight in his last seven or eight, he's been here once before and this is the second time, he's got a lot of experience for a guy with 19 fights."
Action gets underway at 6:45 with ESPN going live at 8:30 for a special 2-1/2 hour broadcast.
