Urango wins inside distance +315 !!!!!

Could happen and I will take it...
Under 11.5 is +170

Urango straight odds getting closer. I think he has too much here for Ngoudjo. If it goes to the cards, forget about it.

But it says here it doesn't go to the cards....

Good to see you back on Ghost. We both took a beating but I expect to be back in business b4 too long. I like the odds on Urango. And i really like his attitude towards the fight. Appears to be very hungry to win back the title. He'll have a tough time winning a dec but I think he can keep Nguadgo honest and force him to fight defensively. Not a big bet for me but I like Urangos chances @+odds. Good luck.

I have quite a few bucks on Vic the following week. Damn that guy is evil...saying he's going to punish Arce then let him off the hook and punish him some more.

Even better news. Hope this messes with Ngoudjo!

Ngoudjo's Trainer Suspended, Out For Urango Bout

"The decision has just come down that Montreal's Herman Ngoudjo will not have his trainer Howard Grant in the corner for the bout with Juan Urango on Friday night at the Bell Centre. The two fighters will battle for the vacant IBF junior welterweight title.

The Montreal Gazette reports that Ngoudjo's trainer was suspended until the end of March for pushing referee Marlon Wright in the aftermath of last October's bout between IBF super middleweight champ Lucian Bute and challenger Librado Andrade. Grant appealed the suspension, but this morning the decision was upheld."

Grant's older brother, Otis, a former middleweight champion, will now work the corner.

"It's sad," said Ngoudjo. "But we've been talking strategy, because we weren't sure how the suspension would turn out. Nothing changes. I've been prepared. Nothing will be different. I feel the same."

from fightnews CANADA:

Former world champion Juan Urango (20-1-1 16KO) vowed to recapture the IBF World championship he lost in 2007 to Ricky Hatton. "Every day since January 20, 2007, I've thought about winning my title back," said Urango Tuesday as he faced off versus Hermann Ngoudjo (17-2 9KO) in advance of this Friday's vacant super-lightweight championship fight broadcast on ESPN's Friday Night Fights.

"It was a beautiful experience to be world champion, both for me and the people, my fans; it is something I would like again. I want the big names; I don't want to dodge anybody."

Urango declared himself well prepared with 2-1/2 months training and 130 rounds under his belt. "There's only two things you can do wrong in preparing for a fight," declared the Columbian talking through an interpreter, "Under-prepare or over-prepare, I think with Hatton it was a case of over-preparing a bit. It was my first really big fight and I trained for something like four months. I identify myself as champion, it's been a long hard road to get here, but I'm thankful of the opportunity."

Ngoudjo was equally determined, and promised to beat Urango at his own game, "I am willing to mix with you "Iron Twin", to back you up and beat you at your own game and we will see who has got the best chin, the best stamina."

Ngoudjo's trainer Howard Grant, who was by his fighter's side but won't be in the corner Friday as a result of a three month suspension, said they know what they're getting with Urango. "Unless he's changed in the last year, he's going to be coming straight at Hermann," Grant told Fightnews, "This has all the makings of a classic and I can tell you we're ready. Hermann has had no easy fight in his last seven or eight, he's been here once before and this is the second time, he's got a lot of experience for a guy with 19 fights."

Action gets underway at 6:45 with ESPN going live at 8:30 for a special 2-1/2 hour broadcast.

"the bunker"
very anxious to see this one....usually don`t like taking a one dimensional slugger vs a boxer...particularly on enemy turf....

thinking about this before i do anything...

Graham with a slight lean toward Ngoudjo.

Weasel, definitely going to be tough for Urango, but I think he can do it.

Wouldn't blame anyone for going with the hometown boy.

But, as Paulie stated in a previous thread, I just can't forget the image of Ngoudjo flopping around the last 30 seconds against Augustus. He was completely out on his feet.

and I believe Randall Bailey beat him...that was a bit of a bad decision (just my opinion).

Urango hits MUCH harder than Augustus and just as hard as Bailey. If Ngoudjo goes 12, he will have really EARNED this decision. He will be under a lot of fire here.

"the bunker"
urango inside with a ngoudjo decision prop hedge seems logical(the kiss of death)....

ngoudjo hasn`t stopped hardly anybody since he`s stepped up in competition(1 stoppage in his last 10 and that was in the 12th round)......and i doubt urango outpoints him in canada...

It really is a tough pick but Urango inside w/nguadgo dec seems the logical bet here. Personally I like Urangos attitute and hunger. He's not going into this saying he's going to do his best...he's saying he's going in there to knock this guy out. Small play for me but I'm on Urango, but it's essentiially a pic em

Anber to work Ngoudjo's corner for IBF title match after Michel withdraws

MONTREAL ? Trainer-broadcaster Russ Anber will be the third man in Herman Ngoudjo's corner for his IBF light welterweight title bout with Juan Urango.

It was announced Wednesday morning that promoter Yvon Michel would join Ngoudjo's team in his bid for the IBF title, but a 2004 rule enacted by Quebec combat sports commission prohibits promoters from working in the corner in fight cards they organize.

Ngoudjo's camp opted for Anber to take his place.

"I'm proud to join this team and I'm flattered they thought of me," Anber said in a statement.

Ngoudjo agreed with the decision.

"I've been training for two month with one of his boxers, David Lemieux, and Russ has been around a lot, so I know him," the Cameroon-born fighter said.

The fight card is a joint promotion between Groupe Yvon Michel and Warriors Boxing of Florida.

from secondsout:

Urango Searches For Redemption

It?s taken two long years, three wins and three knockouts, but on Friday, January 30th, Juan Urango will finally get the opportunity to win back his IBF junior welterweight boxing title when he takes on Herman Ngoudjo for the vacant crown at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

Needless to say, Urango can?t wait for his chance to shine once again.

?I?ve put in the hard work, knocked out every one that was put in front of me, and now I?m ready to do the same to Herman Ngoudjo. Even though we?re in his hometown, I don?t care, because he?s not going to hear the final bell.?

?Ngoudjo is a good fighter, I respect him, and I?m not taking him lightly,? said Urango, ?but if he thinks he can stand in front of me and trade punches, he?s crazy. He doesn?t have the punch to hurt me and while he has a good chin, it can?t take the punishment I?m going to deliver. I?ve waited too long for this moment to be denied now.?

My main concern here, guys, is Juan Urango getting off to a good start. If he gives away rounds like Margarito did, it will be all over by the 6th. Ngoudjo will pot shot his way down the stretch. Taking it on points.

I don't believe Ngoudjo for a second when he says he will stand and trade with Urango...it would be suicide.

But if Urango can bring pressure early and often, he can force Ngoudjo to fight. More exchanges....better for us. Back the kid up from the opening bell. If they really stand and fight in there, we will win this by KO.

If a boxing match breaks out, we could be in trouble.
I am guessing Ngoudjo gets caught sometime within the 12 rounds....and it may be early.

Rumor going around that the ref for tomorrow night is going to be Marlon B Wright !
The Andrade - Bute ref !

This cat came under a lot of scrutiny for allowing Bute to survive.
This could work for us Urango backers.

If Urango hurts him, Wright should be quicker to step in.

OR he could cheat again !

:mj07: :mj07:

Who really knows.

Confirmed:

Urango-Ngoudjo officials!
By Dave Spencer ? Fightnews Canada

Officials have been announced for tonight?s IBF championship fight between the #1 ranked Hermann Ngoudjo and the #2 Juan Urango. No surprise that referee Marlon Wright gets the nod for the main event for the vacant title. Wright who was at the helm of the controversial ending involving super-middleweight IBF Lucian Bute and Librado Andrade is the only Montreal based official affiliated with the IBF and as a result has done almost all fights involving the New Jersey based sanctioning in recent years.

i had to hedge...urango can knock most guys out.....but he`s woefully unskilled and not particularly quick of hand or foot....

i just pray that he doesn`t get ktfo or that urango doesn`t by some act of god somehow win a decision...

Urango by KO at +275 is a very decent prop to take; people are expecting Herman to outbox him, but Herman likes to mix it up , and he hasn't got the discipline of Arnautis to stick and move.

Unless he runs, he will have to stand and trade.
Then again, Urango has some defensive issues himself, i think he could be kod ...
