It?s time to head back to Bethpage Black as the PGA Tour gets set for the second major of the year: the US Open. Last time the US Open was at Bethpage, there was only one score in the negative so the golfers are getting set for a difficult course. Here are some picks for the tournament:

Padraig Harrington

US Open Odds: +4500

Trying to win three of the last four majors is something we generally only reserve for Tiger Woods but Harrington is aiming for that feat.

Regardless of what records he?s vying for, the reality is that he?s one of the most talented golfers on the Tour. Not many people do the preparation that Harrington puts in, which is what separates him.

45-to-1 is good value for this guy.

Tiger Woods

Golf Odds: +190

You didn?t need betting software to predict that Tiger Woods would be the favorite at the US Open but did you think he would be favored by this much?

Woods has been in victory lane at Bethpage, so he?s obviously going to be a huge favorite for this week. Even so, it?s surprising to see him as this much of a favorite at a major.

The main point here that the sportsbooks are trying to make is that Woods really puts a more focused effort at the major events.

The next biggest favorite in this event is Phil Mickelson, who is 16-to-1. It?s somewhat strange to see such a big gap between Woods and the next closest golfer.

Woods has won four US Opens, so the pedigree is there. It?s tough to argue with him but the value is so low that he isn?t worth a bet.

Vijah Singh

Considering how flat the greens are at Bethpage, putting will be less of a factor. That should be good news for Singh, who is a good ball-striker.

His biological clock is ticking but he has two Top 10?s in his last three events and he?s been playing much better of late. Don?t be surprised if he gets one more major in before his career is done.
