They expect course managers to take a half inch off the top on Wednesday morning.

Still........gonna be crazy getting out of the rough.

That's not a test, that's punishment.

I played in a tournament this weekend with greens running 11. They cut and double rolled them both days. It was crazy, but that's nothing compared to what they'll be doing to Oakmont. You put that rough with those greens and it is going to be pure punishment. I'll be watching !:toast:

I'm gonna lay a unit on Rory. I think he will prevail here.

don't wanna mow it too much, because

don't wanna mow it too much, because

"The Master is about how hard tradition can make it, US Open is all about how hard man can make, British Open is how hard God can make it, and the PGA is about how hard the players make it." (quote by some dude on reddit)

Just drove through Oakmont.
Store fronts are all spiffy and the new $16,000,000 Hulton Bridge has just been swept.

"... It is notoriously difficult as the course is setup so that the winner will not break par by much if at all. With so many of the current tour golfers being so very good, the US Open course has to be set so difficult as to be ridiculous. As a result the event could tend towards being a novelty event. Phil will do the usual and have a special bag of clubs to suit the situation - four drivers, a scythe, 6 wedges, a short billard cue and a long one with a rest."

I heard this morning that Mike Davis from the USGA said Oakmont is the only site where they have had to SLOW the greens down prior to a US Open event. :mj07::mj07::mj07:

Also heard Lee Trevino (I believe) say it is the only site that could host the event without notice.....it plays that difficult, all the time.
