FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Already short-handed, Colorado State loses starting point guard Colorado State point guard Dwight Boatner abruptly left the program Tuesday for personal reasons.
"There are several issues that he is trying to deal with personally," coach Dale Layer said. "He felt it was in the best interest to step away from basketball and focus on those issues."
The sophomore scored 14 points in a 58-53 loss to Air Force on Saturday. He started 10 games this season, averaging 8.1 points with 31 assists.
Boatner was unavailable for comment.
The Rams were already short-handed at guard with Freddy Robinson out for the season with a leg injury.
Taking Utah Huge tonight at -4.5
