Long time and seldom, I'll be in the 12th row behind the Utah bench today when the Runnin' Utes take on UCLA and, for what it's worth, thought I'd share my thoughts and play on the game.
Season ticket holders for 15 years in football (really should post my Ute plays there but the time and commitment it takes, to do it right, are outside my available time constraints), I seldom get the opportunity to attend the games at Huntsman and am really looking forward to today.
Utes are coming together nicely with the loss of talent from last years squad, Coach K ( no disrespect to the one and only original but that's what we call Krystkowiak ) has this team playing as a team, never know who is going to show up nightly but someone always does.
I believe Utah has the transition defense to slow down UCLA and if not, they have the offensive ability to hang with them. Do not believe UCLA will not put up 90 on Utah (or 100+ as they did against Colorado). My instinct tells me this game stays under but trends and Mr. Hawkeye indicate an over game so I'll leave the total alone.
The side however, is another matter. The numbers I see show offshores opened this line at 3.5 to 5 but Vegas opened it at 3 (Westgate 2.5!) and despite 66% on UCLA (again, your source may show difference) line is not moving. 3 is a key number, there may be reluctance to move off it but surprised we have not seen it trend a bit back towards the early number. This may change as we get closer to tip but my opinion (for what it's worth):
Utah has the team makeup to hang with the Bruins, we have the transition defense to slow them down, we catch them in a good spot after lighting up Colorado for 104, Huntsman will be sold out, red and rocking and Utah wins this game.
If the line moves to 2.5 or less I'll like Utah even more. Fade or follow but caveat emptor and remember how much you paid for this play.
Playing Utah +130 for two units
I'm headed to the Utah Jazz game after the Utah game, I'm not a fan of teasers, especially in basketball but I'm a fan of key numbers so I'll also be playing:
3 team 7 pt teaser:
Utah Jazz -4/Utah Utes +10/App St +13 for half a unit
App St pick courtesy of both IE and Subcloser. Utah Jazz pick all mine. Both Jazz and Magic come off back to backs but Orlando has to travel, it's their 3rd in 4 nights and at the end of the day Utah is a better team, especially at home.
Best of luck to all and, like, Moo. (Miss that guys write ups)
Cheers :toast:
