Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
One of my fondest memories is my 1983 vacation with wife...

Spent week in England, did all the tourist stuff,(museums, shopped, portebello road, pubs, Geales fish and chips, casinos, Buckingham Palace) England loved barely cool beer, and don't ask for Iced Tea, like I did....I had to buy a $12.00 sports jacket at a second hand store to gain admission to the "Casinos".

We did a week in Paris all the tourist stuff, (museums, left bank, shopped, ate snails and horse, follies, enjoyed a McDonalds quarter pounder with wine, did Versaille )

Followed that up with a train ride to Zurich Switzerland thru the plush green hillsides with a picnic basket full of freshly made ham croissants, pastries and a bottle of wine from a Parisian Bakery.

Zurich, all the stores had identical prices on Fine Watches and Chocolates (Government controlled).
Stayed at the Hotel Glockenhoff, our queen bed had down quilts.

The friendliest people were the Swiss and English.
In Zurich, French, English, Italian, German were commonly heard dialects, many spoke 2-3 languages.

In Paris, I had the distinct impression if they knew you were American, you were basically dog sh*t....

Anyhow, here is what Paris has become if you are considering vacationing there now. http://www.theburningplatform.com/2016/09/15/vacation-in-paris/
