First look at the line, over 10.5 looks good to me at -131

Thoughts from our Euro experts? Conan?

The over looks ok.

I absolutely cannot see Valuev getting stopped, I'm not so sure with Lyakhovich though...

Nobody except Wlad or Vitali is stopping Valuev, but Lykavich? Jeez, I wouldn't bet on that. Valuev has a high work rate which he carries thru 12 rounds and the dude is pissed off at the moment. I can see him knocking Lykavich thru the ropes too.

I'm DEFINTITELY waiting to see the weights before betting. If Lyka comes in heavy, then I'll bet Valuev big because Lyka wont be able to run. If Lyka comes in light, then I might put a small bet on him, because he can throw a right and that is the way to beat Valuev. If he comes in neutral, then I dont see to much value in any line.

I heard that for training Valuev runs for 50 miles while people in a pickup truck drive in front of him and pelt him with rocks and broken glass.

Everything pretty much bounces off his skull.

He's 8 foot tall. They say that once he ate a live albatross and chased a duck for 16 miles on foot. His brain is the size of a grape.

I went round his house once after he kicked my dog, he got lippy, i dropped him with a fawking bat to the head.

Its been said he once crushed a guys skull with a well placed headbutt.

I would venture to say that if your counting on
weight considerations to help you make a winning play, then you will just be left counting money lost.

Title bout vs. Ruiz

On December 17, 2005, Valuev squared off with WBA heavyweight champion John Ruiz, and won a twelve-round majority-decision. Two judges favored Valuev by scores of 116-114 and 116-113, while the third saw the fight as a 114-114 draw ? enough to give Valuev the title.[3] This victory came after narrowly defeating Larry Donald on points in the title elimination bout.

Title defense vs. Beck

On Saturday June 3, 2006, in his first defence of the WBA Heavyweight Championship, Nikolai Valuev (then 44-0, 33 KOs) defeated challenger Owen Beck (25-3, 18 KOs) by a third-round technical knockout in Hannover, Germany. Before this fight, the small sized Beck had only fought one contender, where he was knocked out by Monte Barrett in 9 rounds.

Title defense vs. Barrett

On Saturday October 7, 2006, Valuev fought Monte Barrett and defeated him with a technical knockout in the 11th round, for his (Valuev's) 45th win. Barrett was knocked down twice in the 8th and once in the 11th round, but managed to get up. After being knocked down for the final time in the eleventh round, his trainer James Ali Basheer jumped into the ring to stop the fight.

Title defense vs. McCline

On January 20, 2007, Valuev fought Jameel McCline (38-6-3, 23 KO's) in St. Jakob-Halle, Basel, Switzerland. Valuev won the match, successfully defending his title, after McCline was not able to continue the bout after injuring his knee when throwing a punch near the end of the 3rd round.

Failed mandatory title defense vs. Chagaev

In the tournament to determine who would next challenge Valuev for his title, Ruslan Chagaev from Uzbekistan beat John Ruiz, who lost his championship to Valuev in 2005. The title defense was held on April 14, 2007. Chagaev defeated Valuev by a majority decision (117-111, 115-113 and 114-114

At the outset I thought that was a good wager but not so sure now. Sergei certainly won't stop the big guy but not so sure the big guy won't stop sergei. All that weight and those clubbing shots take a toll over the course. Sergei has had a very long layoff to boot. Sergei was hurt bad against Briggs very early in their fight. Valuev doesn't have the snap that Briggs has so perhaps Sergei can weather his shots. The big guy is busier than briggs so I can see an accululation. My best guess is that Valuev plods his way to a 12 rd dec and Sergei holds on late to survive...just not certain enough to wager anything on it.

You can probably point to a number of fights, Scott, that weight considerations were very helpful, moreso in the Hvy division such as when Sinal Sam Sam Whatever showed up at his fattest ever for Oliver McCall to pull the upset. This after showing he didn't carry all the fat well when he was outworked by Oleg Maskaev. Danny Williams 2nd fight against Skelton.... many others, but they seem to be in heavy division.

I'm really hoping for Sergei to finally put it together again after some tough showings. The word against Briggs is that he had plenty of training injuries and really should have bailed. Sergeii landed the right to the body at will against Brewster who had no answer. Briggs was ready for that and landed the perfect counter left hook that would have hurt anyone. I'm looking for a distance fight. Valuev is very limited and I heard didn't look good at all in his last fight against Canadian nobody.

I totally agree with you that weight considerations are very important. I am just saying that in this fight it will not decide the winning play.

I really did not intend to wager on this fight, but there may be a winning wager in this thread before we are done.

On first look the over rounds jumped out at me. Now that I have had time to think about it and watch these two fighters on youtube, I have some concerns about the over rounds.

Valuev is a determined fighter. I havnt looked at records and past fights yet.

There is no way that Lyakhovich is going to knock the Giant out. It aint happening from what I have seen. But the Giants punchs hurt. This guy bangs hard. Got to look at Lyakhovich chin to get a better feel. I would love to watch the first fight in 2005 that Valuev won over Chagaev.

Lyakhovich has been off for 2 years. Lets face it, the guy is not going to be in top KO form.

Valuev lost his title in a close contested decision.

I can hear his trainers in his ear now :

Trainer - Giant listen , you lost your title because of judges.

Giant - Yeh judges steal from Giant.

Trainer - Yeh judges took food out of mamas mouth. This time you are not going to leave it up to the judges. Do you hear me Giant ?

Giant - Yes

Trainer - this time you are going to knock Lyakhovich into next week. Knock him the fawk out and take your win home to mama and the babies.

Giant - Yeh home to mama and babies.

:scared :scared

I hate that photoshop. I wish whoever did that one would step in the ring with him, they'd end up looking worse.

I honestly thought that was his real picture. I hate photo shop pictures too.

I took it out of my post.

One more thing I always look at.

When betting boxing unders, it is always best case scenario to have both fighters that can really bang and have a high percentage of KOs on their records.

In this case we would be pretty much counting on the Giant .

Of course anything can happen in boxing and the Giant could go down hard, but its not a high
percentage to happen.

Anyone know about this Lukes chin or if he has KO power ?

Wow glad I waited for the weigh-in. Im staying away from ov/und, Sergei looks awful.

I have Lyak decision +553, 50 for 275. Gonna make some Valuev parlays to get nearly 1:1, as long as tubby doesn?t win by KO I?m ok.

Good luck guys.
