After reviewing recent performances against Australia it is hard to know how bad England actually are. What is known is England have been playing many players who wouldn't have made the second or third XI several months ago. In fact England have used 24 players in their International matches so far on this tour, compare this to Australia's 14.

Backing either England or Sri Lanka for the 3rd ODI holds no great appeal. Sri Lanka were less than competitive against Australia 'A' at the weekend and failed also to compete in four of the five matches against South Africa in recent weeks. Given that South Africa are some distance behind Australia (my opinion) it could be that England and Sri Lanka are of similar ability.

I cant see Australia easing up with several World Cup squad places still up for grabs. I have added one further play to the outright series under the thread "VB One Day Triangular Series" but to those of you that are lazy here it is again.

Australia to remain unbeaten throughout the VB series 5/2 @ 2 points (sportingodds).

I have one play for the 3rd ODI and again its on the player performance with Bet365;

A. STEWART 32 and over 5/6 @ 1 point

1/run 10/catch 25/stumping

I've based this bet on Stewart getting into bat and scoring atleast 13 runs and taking 2 catches behind the stumps.
It's a low percentage play and one that will keep an interest in throughout the match.

I'll climb aboard with your Stewart tip bulldog and I've also taken England at 2/1 to win. Yes I said win!!
I figure that you guys are just due and after seeing what our 'second XI' did to Sri Lanka on the weekend, that they are perhaps even worse than your mob!!! :D

Sri Lanka will be suited by the 'Gabba. The pitch has been placid in ODI of late and this will help the batsman. England's problem is there bowling so the poms will be chasing a large total again if they lose the toss

Posting this play between innings.

Para that as agreat price of 2/1 for England. At start ofplay here in te UK England were a general 4/5 shot and you could have backed Sri lanka at 11/10.

If you had played Sri Lanka on our markets you could have guaranteed yourself a very tidy profit of 19%.

I'm in agreement with Pumpkin that our bowling attack is very weak. I thought with about six overs to go England would make 310+. Our score is not to bad and Sri Lanka will have to break the record of successfully chasing a total at the Gabba if they are to win.

For those of you who followed my play we are WINNERS. We can all go to the windows to be paid out. We dont even have to worry about Stewart making any catches.

I am seriously considering putting ?2,000 on Australia today to win the World Cup. As I said, I dont rate South Africa as highly as others, Pakistan having a great bowling line up but on numerous occassions their batting lets them down, whereas India have a great batting line up but are weak in the bowling department. I am still of the opinion that India will give Australia most to think about and as an outsider at around 33/1 the Windies may surprise a few.

I'm off now to settle back with my daughter watching England hopefully not throw away a good opportunity of winning.

That means if you were to back England each way, then the firm are offering a payout on two places i.e the two finalists. The runner up will be paid at 1/3 odds, so if you backed Engalnd at 12/1 and staked ?500 each way, your total stake would be ?1000.

Should England reach the final but get beaten you will be paid out ?2500 in total.

Hope this helps...another great call BB!! :)

I was surprised to see Sri Lanka as favourite considering their short time in Oz compared to the Poms and happy to collect on the dog.

Series so far > 5 - 5 @ minus .68 unit

These two back up on Friday at the WACA in Perth.

Game 4 in the series starts Thursday at Perth and a similar result could well happen again. Sri Lanka really struggled with the short of a length bowling. On occassions the batsmen appeared hurried. The wicket as we know at the WACA is even quicker than that at the GABBA, so expect more of the same from the English bowlers.

What did annoy me was Sri Lanka's feeble attempt to chase the total once the run rate went above 7 runs per over. If this is their attitude throughout the series then Australia will no doubt take a few bonus points away from them.

Glad we all had winners, Stewart even took two catches which I was hoping for when I made the assessment.

Roll on the rest of the games, we could all make some money from this series, just a shame my stakes weren't higher, but its better to be safe than greedy.
