Going out to Vegas in mid march (3 days) with my family. Vegas Vacation. Daytime family activities, nighttime gambling. I have been several time before but I'm looking for suites. I noticed Emerald Gardens and Las Vegas Hilton Resort (not hotel) have reasonable rates. Anyone know anything about these places or any other suggestions?

I've scowered the internet looking for the best deals. The only suites that can accommidate 5 is Venetian and they're close to $400/nite. RIO is too small and most of the others just have honeymoon or business suites.

I would appreciate any help from the locals or other travelers. I've stayed in 7 or 8 different hotels on the strip and it didn't really matter before because I was in my room about 2-3 hours a day. This trip is a little different.

Thanks,

:)

5 and 7. They're your typical youngins'. They're more interested in a hotel with a pool than anything else. I might just end up getting two room side by side. I've been to Vegas enough to know where to go to keep them entertained when we do leave the hotel. But again, any suggestions welcomed. Thanks Fletcher...

I've had a suite at the Mirage, Stardust, and Mandaly Bay on different occasions to Vegas over the past 3 years.

The Stardust has great suites at reasonable rates, all of their restaurants are top notch (especially like Tony Roma's), and the pool is decent, not spectacular like the Mirage). The only negative here is that they are not very kid friendly.

Mandalay Bay has suites, but they are small, and I don't think you could house 5 in their suites confortably. The pool area is decent for kids (wave pool, lazy river, sandy "beach"), but March really isn't warm enough for me to be pool side unless it gets up into the 80's.

The Mirage is expensive, but their suites are nice, the hotel is "more" kid-friendly than the other two mentioned above, their pool area is great, and the restaurants are good (most of them). The suite I had there had 2 Tv's (one for kids--one for adults), 2 bathrooms, jacuzzi, etc...It could hold 5 no problem, but once again they are a bit pricey.

I have never stayed at the MGM, but I have had friends stay there and they say it is very kid friendly---It has some decent shops in their mall, and I'm almost positive they have a kid's gameroom with quite a few gamesa to keep them busy while the adults play their games...

Hope that helps...

AHHHH Vegas....I love that place!!!!!!!

Oh yeah,
I have a friend who writes sports for the LVRJ, and another who was a former Sportsbook director of Terrible's Town Casino in Pahrump, and they both say that the new Terrible's Town Casino in Vegas is nice. I do know it is cheap, and their suites should be cheap as well...may be worth looking into...

Can't help much with Suites. Only one I ever stayed at was Mirage which was great. But I wouldn't pay for one normally ( was special circumstance ). Two adjoining rooms may be a better deal rate-wise anyway. Excalibur has good rates and appeals to kids more than most.

Obviously the nicest places for kids are Treasure Island, Luxor, Excalibur and maybe Circus Circus but that place is scuzzy IMO. Luxor reminds me of Disney World inside and has the game floor that draws kids. Excalibur is cheapest, other than CC, and has a nice game floor downstairs and lots of "kidzy" things.

Although it is off the strip, Sam's Town might be worth a look. They have 2 types of suites and their best suite would be fine for you and kids. The bedroom is separate with door and nice jacuzzi in other area. Sam's Town has movie theaters and some cheap eating places for kids - but that is about all for kids and it is a hike to the strip.

why not pay somebody and leave the kids at home?

there are already too many numbskulls wheeling around strollers in the casinos.

if, at the end of the night, all of the smoke has an effect on an adult (sore throat, cough, dry skin, etc) imagine what it does to a child.

wait 10 years and take them and have an enjoyable vegas vacation while having some consideration for others

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I used to say I wasn't going to take my kids to vegas until they were old enough to enjoy it. But there's enough to do there during the day to keep them entertained, especially if we get out of the city. By 7 or 8 they'll be wiped out, as will "nana", who is also coming. I'm going out to CA for business and got a great rate for everyone, so why not?

I appreciate the insight there AzBob but this numbskull won't be pulling any kids into the casino, and I'll try to be considerate of others like I'm sure you always are...
