Phil:

I realize I am posting this after the fact, but you might want to stay away from Singh for awhile. I had him to win the Masters and he had a three shot lead going into the 3rd day. That monumental collapse is going to effect him for awhile......sort of like what happened to Norman after blowing the big lead in the Masters in 96. He was never the same after that. I've watched Singh closer than any other golfer except Woods of course, over the past three years. He has my admiration as a wonderfuly gifted pro with a great work ethic. However, he is going to struggle for awhile in my opinion. Gold is such a mental game, that it's difficult to shake of the ghosts of the past. So, my advise to to stay away from Singh for the next cycle of Majors.

"It has been reported that this is a tougher course than normal for the US Open. But this course is not long by comparison to most courses -- with par set at 70 (280 over four days). Additional sand traps have been installed into the course design, which may hurt the average scratch golfer. But with top professionals who hit longer drives and maintain better accuracy, a few extra sand traps in the middle of the fairway are not going to affect the final score totals. You just don?t see the winners putting the ball into the traps very often."

Fact:
It's the longest Par 70 course in the history of US Open and has the longest Par 4 in the history of the US Open.

And nobody will be getting to 12 under as you "guesstamate". 6 under might even be a stretch.

I continue to enjoy reading your "free picks" and insight.
You've made me a lot of money recently, fading you.:D

NOLAN REPLIES:

This Forum is about exchanging ideas and debating the merits of plays. I'm certainly not above making an error in judgment or mis-stating a "fact" in my daily report. I (and others in the Free Picks section) put up 300 plus reports a year. It's all free information. I find your comment not only unnecessary but quite mean-spirited. I will look forward to your "immense" insight and wisdom in the future and your keen insights into sports handicapping.
