VIKINGS/BILLS Under 38 ? The Bills have never been a team to run up big point totals in the pre season, and they managed 17 points on only 228 total yards of offense in their opener vs. a shaky Cincinnati defense. Actually, to their credit, those 17 points were more than they scored in their 2 pre season home games combined last year (16), but as their total yardage bears out, those points were more of a by product of good field position than sustained drives. The Bills running game was virtually non existent, as they managed just 51 yards rushing. Since they already know the capabilities of their quarterbacks Bledsoe and Van Pelt, look for the Bills to call more running plays than usual as they look to further evaluate their RB situation. This is a perfect example of team doing what it does NOT do best in the pre season, a situation that is usually very conducive to a low scoring game. This situation will not be helped by the fact that the Bills will be without their first and second string left tackles. The Under was a perfect 4-0 in all Buffalo pre season games last year, and the Under is also 16-8 66.67% in the Bills? last 24 non-conference exhibition games. The Buffalo defense looked atrocious vs. the Bengals, but the Vikings may not have enough horses suited up to exploit this weakness. Minnesota was embarrassed at home by Cleveland 27-15 last week, and they will be without their top 3 running backs (Bennett, Chapman, Moe Williams)! Culpepper may have some success in the few series that he is in, but I do not envision great things for the rest of their offense, as their inability to run tonight would allow the Bills to put pressure on the backup Viking quarterbacks.
