I dont understand the line +5 here. I see virginia haveing a strong chance to win this game outright. It is one of those that almost looks to good to be true. Gt is playing horrible football, and they are banged up. On the other side Virginia has been playing pretty well this season. 5 seems like a ton of points to me. Anyone who has an opinion please post here.

ACC foes collide in Atlanta this weekend as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets play host to the Virginia Cavaliers. Winners of six in a row overall, the Cavaliers have won four consecutive games after trailing at halftime. Last time out, Virginia rebounded from a 21-0 intermission deficit to defeat North Carolina, 37-27, marking the second-greatest comeback in school history. In order to remain in competition for the ACC title with NC State, Florida State, and Maryland, the Cavaliers need to come out on top in this contest. As for Georgia Tech, it has dropped two straight decisions to fall to 4-3 overall and 1-3 in league play. Last time out, the Yellow Jackets put forth a disappointing effort in a 34-10 loss to Maryland on the road. With games against NC State, Florida State, and Georgia ahead on the schedule, the Jackets need to improve dramatically to salvage the season. Georgia Tech leads the all-time series with Virginia, 12-11-1, and has not lost to the Cavaliers in Atlanta since 1994. That Virginia victory also marks the last time the road team won this matchup. The series has brought about some close games recently, as five of the last six meetings have been decided by a touchdown or less. Last season, Virginia recorded a 39-38 victory on a late touchdown.

Against North Carolina, the Cavaliers racked up 423 yards of total offense and 23 first downs. They posted 229 rushing yards and 194 passing yards, proving to be effective at both forms of attack. Freshman Wali Lundy racked up 108 yards on 18 rushing attempts, and Matt Schaub completed 14-of-26 passes for 194 yards and two scores. On the season, Virginia is averaging 31.8 ppg and 363.2 ypg of total offense. Of the 30 touchdowns that the offense has posted, 21 have come through the air. Schaub has thrown 19 touchdown passes this season, giving him 29 in his career to rank fourth in program history. This season, he ranks sixth nationally in passing efficiency. Schaub's favorite deep target is All-American wide receiver Billy McMullen, who has 33 grabs for 502 yards and three scores this season. Lundy, who leads the squad with 416 yards rushing and 40 receptions, has run for over 100 yards on two occasions this season.

Defensively, Virginia allowed only six points over the final 30 minutes of last week's victory. The Cavaliers surrendered 451 yards on the day, including 353 yards through the air. They did come up with three takeaways, however, and allowed North Carolina to make good on only 5-of-14 third down conversion attempts. Opponents have had plenty of success moving the ball against the Virginia defense this season. The Cavaliers are allowing 209.2 rushing ypg and 228 passing ypg, numbers that certainly warrant concern. The Virginia defense ranks second in the conference with 20 sacks, including an ACC freshman record eight by Darryl Blackstock. Despite its success at getting in the backfield, the defensive unit has still given up 26 touchdowns in eight games. Merrill Robertson currently leads the squad in tackles with 83, and Angelo Crowell is close behind with 77 total stops.

Although Georgia Tech managed just 10 points against Maryland, the squad had a season-high 485 yards of total offense. Quarterback A.J. Suggs was particularly impressive in defeat, as he connected on 28-of-45 passes for 272 yards with no interceptions. Kerry Watkins shined as usual, hauling in nine receptions for 127 yards. Suggs has completed 58.3 percent of his passes for 1,202 yards and seven touchdowns with six interceptions this season. Watkins is the ACC's leading receiver with 39 catches for 655 yards and three touchdowns. He receives so much attention from defenders that Will Glover has found plenty of room to roam. Glover has 24 receptions for 231 yards and three scores as the squad's possession receiver. Since Tony Hollings went down with an injury, freshman tailback Ajenavi Eziemefe has taken the majority of the carries. Eziemefe has run the ball 57 times for 234 yards and two touchdowns, but he is slowed by a sprained ankle and may not be able to play this week. Expect freshman P.J. Daniels and senior Gordon Clinkscale to have an opportunity to get some work against Virginia.

Against Maryland, the Georgia Tech defense yielded 222 rushing yards and 210 passing yards. Those inflated stats explain the lopsided final score. A major problem for the Yellow Jackets is that they did not come away with a single takeaway in the tilt. Also concerning is the fact that they allowed the Terps to make good on half of their third down conversion attempts. The Georgia Tech defense is second in the ACC in fewest points allowed, giving up 18.7 ppg, and it ranks among the league's top three in total defense and pass efficiency defense. The Yellow Jackets are led by a trio of talented linebackers. Daryl Smith has posted 51 tackles and seven TFLs, and Keyaron Fox has posted 50 stops and eight TFLs. Recardo Wimbush has notched 42 tackles and two fumble recoveries, completing the outstanding corps. Fox will miss this game with an injury, so Arther Brown will step in to the starting lineup. All-ACC free safety Jeremy Muyres adds 37 tackles and two interceptions to the mix.

Virginia comes into this game playing outstanding football, while Georgia Tech has looked bad the last two weeks. Although the Yellow Jackets have the advantage of what is sure to be an energetic crowd, Schaub and the Cavalier passing attack may be too much to handle.

Predicted Outcome: Virginia 34, Georgia Tech 20

I feel the same wat especially with Techs offense woes due to injuries just seems to easy. I got burnt on a similar game earlier this year with WVU vs Maryland that game looked just as easy.
