It started about a month ago, I would get a lag about 2 or 3 times during a movie that would last about a minute. Also, for some reason it took a long time to load into the player once I clicked for the file to open.

That was annoying but it started getting worse. Like 8-10 times per movie. I had an old version as I never updated from years ago. The version I had was 1.1.11 and I upgraded to 2.2.2. It's totally unwatchable. It pauses about every 3 to 5 minutes for 2-3 minutes.

What could be the problem? I did a search and tried the fixes that were offered but they didn't work either. I downgraded to 2.2.1 but that doesn't help either.

Either it's my computer, a RAM issue, a driver(?) or a windows update fuked me.

Any suggestions? I'm stumped.

The problem is that it won't play files correctly from an external HD. No problems so far from the local drive.

Jack same one works on both for me..

try reinstall again ...

I think I have a problem with my EHD. I can't boot up with it connected to my computer. If I try to boot with it connected it just tries and tries and tries but won't boot up. I pull the plug it boots immediately. Once I'm booted and connect it to my computer it won't read it. My device manager says it's there, my Disk Management says it's there and healthy but if I click on my computer it's not showing.

Man, I hate this crap. :facepalm:

Little trial and error

I recently had the problem that my VLC Media Player took about a minute to start. First I didn't know what caused the problem until I remembered that I imported my Music Library into VLC, so it always scanned the whole Library to import the meta data.
To disable the Media Library do as follows:

  1. Open: Tools -> Preferences
  2. Under Show Setting select "All" to show all settings
  3. Go to: Playlist
  4. Uncheck "Use Media Library"
  5. Click "Save" to finish
Now your VLC should start up quickly again.

VLC PLayer help

I just saw this while waiting to get my haircut.

My computer and VLC is working fine since I disconnected the EHD. Something about that thing is messing with my computer. For now I'm done looking into solutions unless you have an idea.

Computer will not boot with EHD and videos won't play right as long as that thing is hooked up. It got to the point my computer would freeze and shut down. Now without the EHD everything seems fine. I just watched a 45 minute TV show with no lagging or freezing.

I think your lack of an answer is pretty clear regarding your actual answer

:toast::toast::toast:

Nah, I thought I had a shitty HD that messes up when I get it loaded with stuff so deleted 900 gigs of movies but that didn't help either.
