A small writeup of my first golf tournament 'live' experience last week :
I've been to the Challenge Tour event in Elfrath, Germany - it was just a few miles from my home and I had never been to a golf tournament before.
Backed several german guys before the tourney, most notably Martin Kaymer who I had already backed for the Deutsche Bank Cship, back then at 500/1 - played solid there so was just 66/1 for this event. Still couldn't miss it as his home is also just 20 mins away from that course.
I planned to go there if one of my backs was in contention and the weather was right on sunday - well and both was the case.
Decided to follow Kaymer from hole 1 to 18. Looked like he was gonna throw it away after bogeying hole 1&2 - but afterwards he played pretty flawlessly especially in comparison to the other guys I saw - Noren, Walker, Kakko. Made a decisive birdie on hole 17 to clinch the victory in his first challenge tour event. Pretty strange feeling to see it as that guy is 5 days younger than me, still a memorable experience :SIB
