Zapote, Costa Rica, 17 October 2005) They have already began to call it ?pulling a Pierzynski? after Chicago White Sox catcher, A.J Pierzynski, who might have been involved in one of the most controversial calls in MLB playoff history. In the bottom of the ninth in Game 2 of the ALCS, with the game tied at two, Pierzynski struck out swinging for what appeared to be the third out, which would have sent the game into extra innings. Instead, home plate umpire, Doug Eddings, called Pierzynski out, but as the ball came to the catchers mitt it appeared to possibly have hit the ground first, which would give Pierzynski the ability to run to first, and he would have had to be thrown out by Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim catcher, Josh Paul. Pierzynski made it to first and eventually came home to score the winning run off a Joe Crede hit in the next at bat.

What followed can only be summed up as insanity as the home plate umpire, that at first called A.J out, seemed to have clearly made the wrong call and came up with any excuse that made at least an ounce of sense to take himself off the hook. This play and many others in recent years have baseball fans, players, and managers alike asking the question, "Should there be instant replay in MLB?" The institution that is MLB, the United States oldest team sport, unless you want to count lacrosse, has been reluctant to bring replay into the game even though the other three major team sports have at least some form of replay. With the importance of the play from game two of the ALCS, and how it might be a huge reason that the Sox might end up winning the series, now has MLB rethinking its stance on bringing in instant replay.

"There is no reason that MLB should not have at least some type of limited replay system," said Wagerweb.com CEO, Dave Johnson. "There is no way to know if the play had been called different, whether the White Sox would have still won the game, but in games of such magnitude, a bad or missed call should not be the deciding factor either. Many of our customers seem to agree as we have taken five wagers to one that MLB will institute some type of replay system by opening day 2006.?

WAGERWEB.COM POSTS ODDS ON: ?WHO WILL BE THE NEXT COLLEGE OR PRO FOOTBALL COACH TO BE FIRED OR RESIGN??

(Zapote, Costa Rica, 17 October 2005) It is a yearly ritual in football, coaches being fired or resigning amidst turmoil, poor records, or flat out losing their team and the ability to coach them. There are many coaches in both the pro and college ranks who are on the hot seat right now, none more so than Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Tice. Not only is his team falling apart at the seams and on their way to a losing record, but they are now embroiled in a party boat controversy, in which the team supposedly rented a party boat where, according to rumors, several of the players used drugs and had sex with women, leaving used condoms on the ship. Whether these claims are true or not, the Vikings are in a world of trouble, and it seems that Tice?s days in the ?Land of 10,000 Lakes? are very numbered.

Tice isn?t the only coach on the hot seat currently; there are several coaches who could be fired or resign any day due to poor performances and embarrassing losses thus far this season. Some of those coaches who are treading on thin ice are Houston Texas coach Dom Capers, who came into the season with high expectations from himself, the fans, and ownership in H-Town, but his team has started 0-4 and is in danger of having things really falling apart. Mike Martz of the St Louis Rams has had a poor start as well, but is now dealing with a possibly life threatening health problem with his heart and might have to resign regardless of whether ownership wants to fire him. Michigan Wolverines coach Lloyd Carr came a second away from really being in trouble until the Wolverines miraculously beat Penn State on the last play of the game. Had they not, it would have been Michigan?s worst start at that point in the season ever.

"It is only a matter of time before the axe falls on someone this season," said Wagerweb.com CEO Dave Johnson. "The situation in Minnesota looks pretty ugly and is where the first firing could come from. Our customers seem to agree that they have made a tremendous amount of wagers on Vike?s head coach Mike Tice being the next coach to get his pink slip?
