McCall is no stranger to pulling off upsets and he comes in at 235 -as good a shape as he can come in and a few pounds less than his first fight with Gomez, while Gomez comes in at 228 which is okay at best for him and 6 pounds heavier than his last scrap with McCall. So I hear Gomez had an easy first 6 or 7 rounds with McCall but the last few weren't so easy and McCall was coming on a bit in their first 10 round fight. This fight is 12 rounds. The books are understandably saying Gomez decision but those last few rounds should be a bitch for the former cruiserweight. And is the previously suspended coke snorter Gomez a favorite in Germany? Wasn't he banging a trainer or promoters daughter too? I'lll take a shot at the +1000 on McCall by decision and even some draw money. Knock em down Oliver, but don't knock him out.

Didn't see your post Punch. If a mod can delete my previous one and transfer it that would be appreciated.

Hope your dead wrong. It's no small amt I have on gomez. Not sure if the 228 is a sign of not being in good shape or if he just wanted to bulk up and come in stronger which it may very well be. Fightnews described both as being in "perfect physical shape" but that might also be a passing comment. GL

moved from my thread...As I said last week I have a fairly substantial amt on Gomez. A little cause of concern for me w/his weight. Gomez came in @228 and McCall is at a trim 235. The odds reflected the weigh in as Gomez fell to -400. I still like Gomez by dec but I'll be sweating this one out a little until the fight is over. My concern is that Gomez could possibly fade late in the fight. The good news is that McCall is 42 and those legs won't have the stamina they had 5 yrs ago.

I could be dead wrong Romi- I'm really just taking a long shot here with a little bit of money to win a lot. If i was that keen on the upset then I would have just put some decent money on McCall at +350 or whatever it is. The extra weight could be just bulk up weight like you say, but it's still extra weiight that the former 190 poiunder is carrying around late in the fight. Obviously Gomez has some issues - Cocaine, etc. as does McCall and personally I'd be leary of laying a lot out on head cases, but it's already been documented that you have much bigger stones than I do in laying the money out there on the favorites. Best of luck.

"the bunker"
always been a fan of that crazy bi-polar s.o.b......and you can`t help but take a whaqck at +340 or so with him...particularly with gomez at 228(which,imo,seems a tad heavy)....

gomez may well out box mccall for 12...gomez is a verrrry talented guy....but,it is 12....soooo,wtf...

the venue?...throw it out because mccall ain`t winning a decision,regardless.......

small wager on the atomic bull as the longshot....just because he`s given us all some very interesting moments over a 22 year career.....

who said it ain`t manly to cry?

Not so sure. I think the venue has a benefit in more ways than one. I'm hoping he'll have the same ref that gave Kras all the time in the world to recupe after he was flattened by Brewster. It seems at times those refs will go to all lengths to get the house fighter a victory. Gomez will also have the crowd behind him.

Not sure why punchy would play McCall by decision at +1000 when you can get McCall by stoppage at +600

McCall's not winning a round untill Gomez gives it to him, even if McCall comes on late in the fight and wins the last 4 rounds...he'll still lose 116-112 on the cards

If I were playing McCall it would be by stoppage, how does the 42 year old McCall win a decision over Gomez???

So far I only bet on over 8 rounds at 30% (bwin), which now seems to be a much better bet than Gomez straight.

I dont see how he could stop McCall anyway...

The weight of Gomez is really a concern, I'm beginning to think that McCall really might have a shot....

Stranger things have happened. This isn't a big important play for me. What if McCall drops Gomez early and Gomez is tentative for the rest of the fight- we'll see.

Odds have dropped to -380 Gomez. I think that's a bargain but I have too much on the fight as is to put any more $ down. Punchy is correct in that stranger things have happened. McCall appears to be ready for war. I'm a little nervous on this one and I'll be glad when it's over. Does anyone know what time 11 pm in Germany will be in the US ?...thx

Germany is 6 hours ahead of new york time. 23 00 in Berlin is 17 00 in New York.
ESB has a great llive feed from Berlin which starts in about one hour.
My man plays Mcall small by the way. Gomez does not look in top condition, he doesnt look real bad neither but he is not in the best shape he can be thats for sure. The second half of the fight will be interesting.
Gomez is a gifted athlet but he has some quit in him. I remember a cruiser fight in which he w?nted to quit on his stool and his corner had to get pretty rough to get him out. He fought on to win the fight though. i have Mcall in some suicide parlays, thats it for me.

Thx for the info Tony. Looks like fight time is in 5 hrs. I should probably hedge a little but I'm going to stay put. As long as Gomez stays on his feet, he should win. I wasn't aware of him wanting to quit in a previous fight...not a good sign.

Yes he wanted to quit in his rematch against Dominguez, a fight that he was winning with relativ ease.

In the first fight Gomez had no trouble to reach McCall, well thats no surprise, but he has never been a fighter who likes to keep his hands up and McCall was able to get to him pretty good.
