TOURNAMENT

BUBBA WATSON (-120) over GEOFF OGILVY

I realize Watson did not play real well in the California desert a couple weeks ago, but he is coming off a win last week and should ride some momentum into Phoenix. So....I am surprised the price is so low in this case, as Ogilvy is making is first start of the year, after getting stitches in his hand and having to withdraw at the Hyundai in Maui only 5 weeks ago.

FIRST ROUND

JHONATTAN VEGAS (-109) over CAMILLO VILLEGAS

Vegas will eventually have to cool down, but here's hoping the hot streak continues at least one more day.......He has broken 70 his last 9 rounds (including 3 at the tough South Course at Torrey) and his highest score this year was 71 in the first round of the Sony (his first of the year). Villegas on the other hand has a stroke average of 71.8 since his DQ at the Hyundai with a low round of 69 in that time.

LUCAS GLOVER (-124) over KENNY PERRY

The atmosphere at this one is likely better suited to Kenny Perry, however, he wasn't close to making the cut last week and like the fact Glover has that first tourney under his belt after last week's T51.

Round 1 play (2pts):

Nick Watney to beat Dustin Johnson +105 @ Bet365
Two players in very good form, but Watney is the pick at these odds given his record at Scottsdale. Whereas Johnson failed to break par in either round in his only previous visit in 2009 (he missed the cut), Watney has made the cut in five the last six years, averages 68 over the first two rounds if 2006 is ignored and was the leader after two rounds in 2009.

Will start out here this year. I usually like to try to find the long price, but I think there are some likely suspects that are worthy of current form and might be around on Sunday to make it interesting.

1* Mickelson 8-1
1* Mahan 20-1
1* Kim 20-1
1* Fowler 20-1
1* Van Pelt 80-1
1* Duval 100-1

1* Fowler +120 over Dustin Johnson
1* Chris Kirk -105 over Spencer Levin
1* Brandt Snedeker +105 over Bubba Watson

Starting out my year at 9 Units. Let's see if we can make some hay out of this... Good luck to all.

ROUND 2

LUCAS GLOVER (-133) over KENNY PERRY

Right back to this one, but Glover was more accurate and putted better in the cold on Thursday. Perry has not shown anything so far this season to indicate he is going to do anything other than hover around the cut line this week. I think Glover is finding his form.
