In the posted plays in my thread yesterday, I got a push with Siena -4 and wins from Princeton +7 (first half), UNLV -2 and Montana State +8 to go 3-0-1.

For tonight's NIT games I played:

St. Bonaventure +6.5
Tennessee Tech -6.5
New Mexico +9.5
New Mexico ML +400

Would really like to know your reasoning behind the New Mexico pick the Alumni is ready to lynch the coach the players are talking about not coming back next year if he stays and players are skipping practice can't see much motivation here for them playing one of the best home teams in College basketball 10-3 ATS and as far as I can see the far superior team in every categorie plus playing at home. I respect your handicapping skills very much but just can't see any reason to play New Mexico, Minnesota is one of my top plays tonight and just wanted to get your reasoning.

Robert --

Thanks for the props even if you think playing New Mexico is crazy! Here's the basis of my thinking:

Motivation: Minnesota is pissed off not to be part of the NCAA's, New Mexico is happy just to be in the NIT and IMO the Golden Gophers will be less than excited about playing this game.

Offense: Minny's offense has looked bad the L5 while New Mexico has shot 48% from the field including 45% from the arc in their L5.

Rebounding: New Mexico has a five board advantage here which should lead to easy buckets.

NIT Experience: Lobos made it to round 2 in 2000 and the quarter-finals last year.

On the road: New Mexico only lost by 3 in double OT at UNLV in their last game. IMO UNLV is about the same as Minny.

In summary, I think New Mexico will keep this game within 10 and if they hit their 45% from the arc IMO they could win this game SU.

You know it's funny because I agreed with all of your plays yesterday and all but NM tonight. I think you have to look at the last 5 opponents that NM played Only one of which that is in the tourney San Diego St and none of them play real strong defense so I think their offensive numbers are a little padded, while Minn played Illinois twice and almost beat Illinois at home holding them to only 67 I don't think Minn is dissapointed in the NIT they had an outside chance at the tourney but not real strong and New Mexico will be hard pressed to beat Minnesota on their homecourt just my opinion and I wish you the best of luck in all but NM LOL!

I think the Lobos will play tough

I think the Lobos will play tough

I like em too. Moutain West teams arent so dissapointed to play NIT, they just want to live and play another day. and they have some good basketball in that conference.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT!

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT!

There could only be one thing worse than Minnesota not making it into the NCAA'S. Minnesota losing in the first round of the NIT and losing to New Mexico! Looking for Minnesota to roll tonight! Good luck to you all!

There seems to be a misperception that the Lobos and their fans are just thrilled to be in the NIT. The NCAA West Region is being played in Albuquerque on Thursday and it seems that very few people are interested in the NIT game tonight. Matter-a-fact, the game isn?t even being televised in Albuquerque.

Guess you guys were right about New Mexico; in fact you should have faded all my plays and you would have had a perfect day.

I should have just played Raymond's picks today and not wasted my time capping these games.

Let's kick the man's ass tomorrow when the real tournament starts.
