TCU and LSU two of the worst beats of the year.
I picked up tex +9.5 (think it was halftime -ish) but early 2nd half added over 148.5.
On the pregame number, buzzer beating meaningless 3 by UT gets me a W, but with the 9.5 i was winning regardless. But 1/2 pt short on the live over…. Not a bad beat, it shouldn’t have even come close to 148, was 65-60 under 2:45 or 3 min left.
While also not a “bad” beat, i had 3 plays live on the nd
/ pitt under… 149.5, 152.5, 156.5.
There were 67 free throw attempts, with i sht you not FIFTY FIVE (55) in the 2nd half. The teams average 20.5 FTA a game COMBINED. I dont whine about refs or calls, and i di
d have ND -1 live to offset it, but I can’t find a game thisyearwith almost 70 FTA, avg seems to be 30 or so. 55 in a half is double what many games combine for in an entire game.
adding : the pregame number was 143.5 / 144. With 9:51 left, it was 61-45 Nd (106 total). FOURTY FT ATTEMPTS in the last 9 min of the game, 24 of which were Pitt, the team trailing by 10-15 nearly the entire 2nd H.
outlier? Bad luck? Suspect?
the only FACT here is that with 38-39 points needed in just 9 min to get over the original total, 40 FT attempts guarantees the over. Leaves nothing to chance.
its not “rigged” but in a lopsided game no teams are racking up 40 Ft attempts in 9 min, and yeah some games are just called tight like that, but with 12 fts in the whole first half, and only 27 in the first 31 min of play (given that pace / projection there shoulda been about 40 total in the game), to see an entire games worth in 9 min , 40 fta, with the total 39 points away when the barrage started, is a once every few years occurrence. If there were 67 FTA, and like 29 in 1st H, 38 in 2nd H, AND A CLOSE GAME, that fits even though rare. To see them bunched into that small a window in a 15 pt game is
intervention.
