It feels good to be back with Madjacks after a small hiatus. Last night was great starting the year 4-0 with my picks.

Here is what we got going tonight:

Texas Tech -3 **** (4 Units)

Temple/Xavier Over 129 ** (2 Units)

Pitt -1.5 *** (3 Units)

UCONN/St. Johns Under 135 ** (2 Units)

Rhode Island/Duquesne Under 149.5 *** (3 Units)

I'll be back with a few others in a bit. Btw, thanks to all those who know who I am and have followed me for a long time elsewhere. I received lots of warm emails this year so thanks.

Best,
Kaiser

4-0 (+12 Units)

Well another nice night so far getting 4 more out five for a total of 8 units. I give all the credit in the world to G'Town for playing with a sense of urgency and taking it to the Panthers in the Zoo.

At the end of the first half, the Hoyas looked like the better team yet it was still tied. I thought Dixon would be able to light enough fire in them for the 2nd half, but the guard play was the difference. Wright man handled Pitt as the focus was fixated on Monroe down the stretch. Tough game.

Playing one more tonight:

UNLV -6 *** (3 Units)

Last year the Rams came out smoking and beat the Rebels in Moby Arena and look to do it again. This game has potential trap written on it, but I honestly believe UNLV will be playing with a chip on its shoulder from last year. They are the better team and coming off a tough loss at home to Utah I guarantee Kruger will have them fully prepared for this one.

Best,
Kaiser

Haha thanks Ocean I'll stay thirsty as long as I continue to see good plays. Nice way to end the night with another hit on the Rebels giving me 5 out 6 for the day totaling 11 units.

It feels good to be back on Madjacks like I stated yesterday after a decent time away. I have been private for awhile but like the atmosphere on MJ as well as many of the cappers. That gives me 9 out of 10 to start for a total of 23 units.

Hope many of you were with me on some of these plays and had a good night!

Best,
Kaiser

HiLo Kaiser ? great couple of days for you. Regarding your inquiry about DePaul, Webster is a good guy, just not head coach at a school in a major conference yet. If he can perform admirably the rest of the season (last night was a big step) I would imagine he could possibly get a head job at a mid-major or low school. He?s been around the block and is a very good recruiter.

The names being rumored as possibilities are long at this point. The 3 you mentioned as well as Brian Gregory, Craig Robinson, Steve Lavin, Tryone Corbin, Chris Collins and even the likes of Isiah Thomas and Gillespie (don?t think either of the last 2 stand a chance) have had some discussion at least in the media. There are many other really good coaches at mid-majors that would normally be included, but you are right about the ?making a splash? and that is what the word on the street is that they will be doing. Lowery is thought of very highly by DePaul?s AD and would no doubt recruit the heck out of Chicago due to his ties. However, his lack of success lately at SIU is alarming. Again, word is they will be willing to spend this time around. As unlikely as it seems, I wouldn?t be surprised to see them go after a guy like Mark Few (though I would imagine Few has his eyes on Ernie Kent?s job).

Keeping Wainwright after last year was a horrible decision but was done so for financial reasons allegedly. You would expect them to reinvest now in the program by going big on their next coach. Ponsetto?s contract as the AD is up in 2012 so she needs a home-run type hire to help her cause.

Thanks PFJ for the nice sentiments and I will do my best going forward.

Poon-Thanks for giving me your take on the Depaul program. I know how much knowledge you have on the program and thought it would be prudent to bounce the subject around with someone like yourself. It's so funny you brought up Mark Few because I was going to bring his name up, but felt at least in circles I am associated with that he really wants to stay out west. So your mentioning of Ernie Kent's job sounds logical. The other guy who I did not bring up but would have been an interesting choice if they tried to make some noise a couple years ago was Steve Alford whose done a fantastic job with the New Mexico program.

Of the three I mentioned in your thread, I think Brad Stevens would have the right philosophy, intellect, brashness, and that young drive reminicent of Jamie Dixon when he took over Pitt back in '03. The snag there is the Butler ties run so deep and I don't know that is a marriage that could be broken at least not yet, but who knows. Definitely worth feeling out if I was Depaul. I do like Fran McCaffery a lot and if I was Ponsetto I would think long and hard if he was interested. He is constantly at the tops of his conference, but to have the opportunity to go against the best teams night in and night out in the Big East might offer him a challenge he might be willing to take.

Thanks for the nice comments. I've been away for a little while acting private, but I have always liked it on MJ and think highly of some of the cappers. It's been a good start, so here's to continuing it.

Best,
Kaiser

Kaiser - do I talk to you in other circles? Alford is another name that I've brought up to others. Not sure of his contract situation now or if he has interest into getting back into a big conference, but he would be a bigger name that might fit the build for what they are looking.

You are right though about Stevens and McCaffery. If you are looking at successful, solid mid-major coaches, those two have to be high on your list.

That's too funny. You and I have never met and are on completely opposite coasts, but rather our basketball ideologies seem to be quite similar. Maybe Depaul will take a card out of our hands and select a candidate that would electrify the program back to excitement. In any case, thanks again for your thoughts. This is to a good year Poon and to all my fellow cappers!

I will be back in a bit with some plays. I'm still evaluating a couple games before posting.

Best,
Kaiser
