Butler -14 vs Ball State.
Butler/ Ball State under 119'

I'm not impressed with Ball State's win over E. Ill. The Cards hung up 72 points on a team that went 7-22 the previous year and lost four starters. Ball state coach Taylor is still early on in a complete rebuilding mode. He does have some talent in the frontcourt with Newell and freshman Jones who had a terrific first game for the Cards. The backcourt is very suspect and will be subject to turnovers, especially in a hostile enviornment against a better defensive team like Butler.

I am impressed with Butler's ten point win on the road at Drake. The Bulldogs won that one 58-48 despite only shooting 5 free throws the entire game, almost unheard of.

Coach Stevens is a Lickliter disciple and that means an extreme emphisis on defense and this Butler team will need to rely even more than ever on defense after the graduation of Graves and crew from last years 30 win team.

Its hard to give 14 points in a game that i expect to be very low scoring, but thats my plan.

Call it
Butler 65
Ball State 46

Coming back with TCU under 127 tonight vs the Huskers. I took a hit on the Frogs under vs. C of C and have to believe that Christian was really steamed with his teams effort on the defensive side of the floor. I have to think that he'll get a much better effort vs. a rather impotent Husker squad.
