This is my first post and look forward to expressing my outlook on specific games I see as superb opportunities. I have a friend who referred me to this site and found this to be a great outlet for many of us who are ooking for ways to make some cash.

I am from California, so even though I follow the entire NCAA scene, my emphasis you might notice at times will be on the west coast conferences such as the WAC, Pac 10, Moutain West, and Big West. My friends urged me to sign on a give some picks since I have been handicapping quite well this year. Hopefully I keep it up and learn from you guys as well.

So onto my picks for tonight:

Southern Miss - 2.5
This is a game where the line is closer because of the heated rivalry and being at home. The fact is the Golden Eagles are a much more athletic team than Tulane and will expose their major weakness which is they turn the ball over against quicker teams and cannot shoot free throws.

Miami - 6.5
This should be a good game. I like the Hurricanes in this spot. They play at home and are looking to come back to the Bank United Center to build on their big victory over BC last weekend. McClinton is a great floor general and Collins has become a consistent force. I think Maryland can play and had a couple big wins early in the year against Michigan State and Michigan, but I feel this is a game where Miami is playing great basketball on a high level.

Vanderbilt - 9.5
I think Ogilvy and the Commodores are playing great basketball and had a minor mishap against a red hot Kentucky team that stopped their winning streak. The size and fundamentally sound play of Vandy at home should result in a nice cover.

Those are my 3 for right now. I will come back shortly with some later games I'm looking at. They will most likely will be West Coast games. I wish everyone the best of luck!

Thanks Woodson for the warm welcome! Interesting night to say the least. Only getting 3 out of 6 with So. Miss, Vandy, and CSUN covering.

As for the losing cards.
Miami came out so cold in the 1st half against a good Maryland team making this game a battle for survival rather than covering the points. I thought the Hurricanes were going to come out strong and the big road win against BC would have carried over.

Then the UNLV game I found to be the most unusual since they are a superior team than Colorado State, but on the road they looked lethargic and were outplayed for the first 3/4 of the game.

UTEP is a team I am very familiar with and have seen them play a couple times this year. This was a great game. Usually they play better defense at home and Culpepper is burying more of his shots, but I give all the credit to Houston for bringing their "A" game and offensively looked very impressive.

Props to Box and One who called the over in this game. That was a great call since both of these teams have tremendous shooters and can score and score in bunches.

Looking forward to being a part of the MJ community. Thanks!
