Wednesday's Play of the Day: St Marys

Last year St. Mary's was a great fade, this year they've got a better team and they've been a great play at 7-2 ATS. It seems like the linesmakers haven't figured it out yet.

For Colorado, F Jason Carter has been declared academically ineligible and his loss hurt Colorado in their last game vs Wisconsin-Milwaukee. This also hurts the team's depth.

More importantly, Colorado will be lookiing ahead of this game to their conference opener on Saturday vs. Kansas.

Colorado is a tough place to play but St. Mary's has already covered at New Mexico and at Santa Barbara, two other hostile courts.

My only problem with this play is something that Fletcher brought up about a week ago: altitude. Teams like St Mary's will not be used to playing at such a high altitude and lack of oxygen. This gives Colorado a superior home court advantage against teams that are not prepared for this.

There's no question that altitude plays a factor but IMO it's accounted for in the line.

FWIW Colorado is 1-2 ATS at home.

The real question here is whether the Buffalos treat this game as a final tune-up for Kansas given their lackluster performance last time out, or are they in a look-ahead mode.

My $$$ is on the latter.

I don't think Colorado is very good defensively and has been running up scores on weaker schools. They gave up 74 and 81 to Southern and Arkansas Pine Bluff. I've seen APB play and they are the worst team I've seen. I think St. Mary's is much better than both those teams. If APB scores over 55 on you just weren't playing defense.
