Colo / UTEP

This is another tough game to cap. You have Colorado who has had its ups and downs the past few seasons. Looks like they are past all of the scandal stuff and back to playing okay football. Colorado has some issues on both sides of the ball. On offense, I look for them to run the ball and keep the UTEP offense off the field. Their QB only has 9 TD's and 15 ints. Their rushing game is no powerhouse, statistically similar to UTEP's. They will also be facing a defense that recorded 39 sacks compared to just 18 that they gave up. The UTEP offense is lead by Jordan Palmer, younger brother to Carson. He threw for a little under 2500 yards and 24 tds. On paper, UTEP should beat Colorado... however, you have to figure in their schedule. They did beat Fresno St @ Fresno earlier this season though. These 2 coaches have history and I don't see one running up the score on the other. I look for a close game and will take the points and a team that I know can get down the field late in the game if needed.

Oklahoma St / Ohio St

With the suspension of Troy Smith, I have to go with Oklahoma St. I realize that the backup qb was benched earlier this year so he should do okay stepping in. However, I've read that he is more of a pocket passer and will not run the ball like Smith did. Anytime you have a qb like that (ie. Vick), you're window of opportunity to make plays on offense opens up so much. With a 1 dimensional qb, all you have to do is get in his face and disrupt the timing. Obviously, you will have to stop the run as well. Oklahoma St. should be able to mixup the calls on offense. Woods is a qb that can make plays happen. Even though both teams like to use the ground game, I still think this game goes OVER the total.

Crazy day yesterday. Went 0-5 in the first game then let it all ride on the second and went 9-0 to finish 9-5 +36.50... :142lmao:

GL today bk. Let's pick right up where we left off!! I like UTEP today but nothing so far on OKSt/OSU. Did like the Buckeyes before the suspension....still hate to go against a team with GINN on their roster. And with that hook dangling there I'm still tempted

T, I hear ya about the Buckeyes. I watched a game where that Ginn guy dominated. He is definatley a play maker. I think if it comes down to a total grindout game, I'll take my chances with Ok St. I've watched a few of thier games and liked what I saw. They had OU sweating and was beating the crap out of Texas before they fell apart.

I'm in El Paso right now, where I grew up, and I don't believe in my Miners. This will be a low scoring game. 5 td's max. Utep losing and not covering the spread. Palmer isn't very good late-game, neither is the offense, and to be honest with you, UTEP isn't that good overall. Losing the way they did in Tulsa should be enough to scare any bettor, esp when it's a good big 12 team they're up against.
I'd put a few units on Colorado to cover. But nothing on prop bets at all.

I like both of your UTEP plays and I'll be playing both of those as well and tossing a little on the UTEP money line.

Something that jumps out to me looking at Col-UTEP is Colorado's horrid pass D. They have not played a ton of passing teams, yet are giving up 255 yds a game in the air and 427 yds total. When you brake it down further, the teams that they have played averaged 205 yds passing and game and 383 yards a game total. If you factored out their games against Colorado, the oppenents yardage totals would be even lower. So teams are having great success thowing and moving the ball on Colorado when compared to how they fare overall. UTEP's offense has been pretty balanced 155/game on the ground, 244 in the air for the #9 scoring offense in the country. Mike Price should have his passing game working well against this D. They are averaging 36.5 pts a game and I don't any reason they can't get that here.

I'm always scared taking a team from a lower conference vs a power conference but, the Big 12 North was putrid this year. Colorado has played 5 bowl teams and won 1 (by 3 over Iowa St). UTEP has played 4 bowl teams and won 2. So not as huge a difference as usual. They got off track in their last game losing at Tulsa by 3, but still outgained them by 200+ yds. The only other loses where at ASU and Boise St early in the season and they beat Fresno St and Hawaii in back to back weeks.

Ohio St will get thier points and Ok. St. will add some trash. Too many dumb mistakes in the 1st half that lead to 0. They will come out and try to play thier game. They are not gonna win, but at least put up a fight and not get bageled.

Hey Strutter, sorry if you've been coattailing me lately. This happens every year around this time. Gonna take it easy for the next few days.

Finished the last 2 days... 10-11-1 = -7.9 Still not too horrible, but not what I wanted. I knew within the first few minutes that Ok. St. wasn't gonna do jack. No worries, plenty of games left.
