Bears by 4
Many bettors will avoid the Vikings like the plague this season, which I think is a big mistake. Expectations are now so low and the team's troubles have been so well publicized that the Vikings might actually be a complete reverse of the team of the last five years and actually be a solid betting value in many games. For years, the Vikings were a great fade, and overblown, overrated team that consistently faltered despite loads of talent. Now, they will be dogs in many games which means the value has shifted. Add the fact the Vikings open at a division rival that over-achieved last season and the Vikings appear to be a great play here getting +4. I'll take Duante Culpepper over Jim Miller at quarterback in a heartbeat. The only question is -- should we play this game now and guarantee getting the +4? Since this line could drop to 3.5 that would be a significant line move. I won't advise bettors on what to do here, but I have locked in a wager at +4 as the safe play. If the Bears win, I think they win by 4 or less.
