as i mentioned in taoist's thread, houston seems to be a very popular pick. we know that rice is bad but as a general rule i don't touch large road favorites.

While this game is being played at Rice Stadium, it is only six miles from the U of H campus so labeling Houston as ?a road favorite? might be a stretch. Consider that the current number of students currently enrolled at Rice is around 4,800 and their stadium seats 72,000 and I think you get the picture.AR182 said:
Having said that, Rice will probably not be rolled over in this game. The coaching staff led by Todd Graham, while brand new to Rice, is exceptional and the team seems to believe in them. On the other hand, Houston?s Art Briles has yet to instill any semblance disciple in the Cougars since taking over two years ago. The difference in the talent pool between Rice and Houston is not that large and I don?t see the Coogs covering the double digit number.
This is a game that I typically go to each season but alas, this year I will be in Costa Rica.
The Pitt bet looks great and I love Tennesee.
Pitt is hosting a club with a brand new QB in his first road game.....never a good thing for the visitor. Furthermore, Pitt's stock is way down and you can get some great value here on week one (IMO).
