Nice week for me last week, hope it continues....here's what i like for week 5....
YTD:
6-6 sides
1-1 totals
7-7 overall (-.5 units)
Oakland/Chicago
Over 42.5 (1 unit)
Couple interesting statistics stuck out in the database matchup:
Oakland-have the third worst run defense allowing 154.3 per game.
Chicago-second last in the league in passing at 126.7 yards per game.
Chicago-have the worst run defense in the league at 183.7 per game.
2 terrible defenses here, while both offenses have the potential to put up points. As bad as the Raiders have looked, Rich Gannon, as seen last week, can still put up some big numbers against a suspect defense (e.g. San Diego). Charlie Garner should have a big day. The Bears offense has looked putrid at times, and Kordell is a terrible QB, but their running game showed a lot of life last week against the Pack. A-Train should see a lot more carries, and I see him having another excellent performance against this Raiders D. Like the OVER here. FINAL SCORE: Oakland 31 Bears 17
Chiefs/Broncos
Under 45.5 (1 unit)
Yes, the Chiefs offense is explosive, but as seen against the Ravens, they can be contained with a solid defense. The Broncos D is the second best against the run, and the should "contain" Priest Holmes. The Chiefs D is improved, and the Broncos have yet to show dominance against anything but seocnd-rate defenses. Throw in the fact that this is a division game of great importance, I see both teams playing a conservative field-position game. The only thing that worries me in this game is the special teams ability of the Chiefs, which could throw the total over....however, with the amount of press and national attention Dante Hall has gotten this week, I think the Broncos will be prepared for him, and will have the discipline needed to contain him. This thing goes UNDER. FINAL SCORE: Chiefs 20 Broncons 17
Detroit +7.5
(1 unit)
Detroit (+260)
(1 unit)
See Nolan's write up about the Niners....incredible....plus, the half-point hook im getting at betwwts is huge. The Niners are a sinking ship, and the off-field distractions this week didnt help. Mariucci will have the Lions prepared and gameplanned. Lions win this game. FINAL SCORE Lions 24 Niners 21
Cleveland +7
(1 unit)
I think its too much to ask the Steelers to cover a full TD against a divisional opponent that traditionally plays them tough. 6 of the last 8 games in this series have been decided by 3 or less....I see no change here. Going with the Brownies. FINAL SCORE: Steelers 23 Browns 20
