And grab some fish tacos for lunch at Tin Fish! Also there are a ton of cool roof top bars in Gaslamp if that's your thing. The other Marriott has the best imo called Altitude... looks down on Petco from 20 or so floors up. There's also a weird underground wine bar that's cool just to see... straight outta Alice in Wonderland. Called Vin de Syrah.
Everything I mentioned is walking distance from hotel. I used to goto San Diego every year for a week long industry conference (stayed at your hotel several times) so while my recommendations won't steer you wrong they're pretty localized and touristy. Over the dozen or so times I went I only made it past the Gaslamp district twice. Never went to the zoo and I love zoos:mj07:
